Shorty Headers w/ Y pipe?
I have an 84 z28 305 HO and want a set of shorty headers with a y pipe to go to the factory cat. I would like to know which system you think is the best for performance, quality, and the best bang for the buck. Thanks

Is the hooker 2055 w/ the y pipe going to connect to my factory cat on the 84 z28 ho without having to fabricate anything? Also, Im looking at the hooker cat back exhausts, the hooker website shows a 16822 for 83-85, and a 16823 for 86-92... There is a 60 dollar price difference between the two of them, what is the difference between them?

If you want a great flowing system, I'd suggest this (Summit p/n's): HOK-2055 Hooker headers with y-pipe, which is for the '86-'90 TPI single cat application; CTO-9118 Catco direct-fit cat for '86-'90 TPI single cat application; and the cat-back for the same application. This will all bolt together, will eliminate all of the year-specific factory system, and get you something that's emissions-legal, good-fitting, and good-performing.
There is nothing "magic" about the '84 HO system. The only things that could be "issues" for you are: The EFE valve is eliminated (that hasn't cause me any problems, though); and the driver's side A.I.R. check valve on the 2055's points to the rear instead of forward (I used a couple of 90 degree elbows & a chunk of pipe from Ace Hardware to turn it back around).

Thanks for the help. I dont have air injection on my car anymore, so thats not a problem, does the 2055 have pipes welded on or just threaded holes? I guess it doesnt really matter because Ill cut them off and weld the whole closed. The camaro is just my daily driver, and want to do little work to it as possible... ie making parts for the exhaust... im lazy. besides, Im building my real car in my garage so thats where all the effort goes... 70 Buick Riviera, 455 Cubic Inch (7.5 L V8), 525 ft lbs torque, 400 horse (stock except for headers and dual 3 in mandrel custom exhaust). Peak torque around 3 grand... you gota love the low end torque. Its a shame that GM cant do that on low budget cars now a days... hahaha
Thanks

The A.I.R. tubes are welded onto the primaries of every aftermarket header, as far as I know.
Low-end torque on budget cars is what got us the 305.
