would a local exhaust shop do a cat-delete?

I don't have emmission testing in Georgia and want to run straight pipe in place of my cat.

Do you think any local exhaust shops would do this?

If not, how can you connect two 3" pipes without welding? dp they make an adapter that is slightly larger that 3" that you can clamp to connect the pipes?

(i searched but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. sorry if this general topic comes up alot)

i dont think they will, i couldnt get a shop to do it here. Maybe if you know someone. I judt gutted my cat. Maybe you could tell them you want a straight pipe that bolts in so when you drag race you can have better flow. Maybe they would do it then.

THe laws here say they cannot do it, BUT I was told if i went home and chopped off the cats and went back they'd straight pipe it.
They said "If the cats aren't on there to begin with we have no problems, but we Cannot take them off, not saying YOU Cant take them off, but WE Cant...*whispered* Go home and cut them off then come back and we will throw it on"

just go rent a pipe cutting tool from like autozone or advance auto and cut it off-that is if it doesnt unbolt or slip off. gut it and put it back on. ive heard that breaking the monoblock in the cat is difficult, simple solution fire a 12 gauge slug threw it-it will go away fast.

i guess i'll cut it off myself and then bring it into the shop

yeah earlier today i was thinking that probably no place would remove your cat unless they got a little $$ to go in their pockets, but if the cat was already off i couldnt see any shop refusing to finish up the exhaust without the cat.....i'll hate driving to the exhaust shop though. when i used to have my 3.1L i started it up with the exhaust off and it sounded AWFUL and WAAAYYY too loud. i guess the 350 will sound a little better but still everybody within a mile will be turning to look at me. oh well, guess if a cop pulls you over on the way you can just tell him you're on the way to the exhaust shop to fix the problem

i still have the stock cat on there...its just bolted on, right? it may be too corroded or rusted to be able to unscrew though so i might have to cut it

so those DIY auto places should have a pipe-cutting tool available to rent?

they will not, but if for some reason you go in and ask them, they will cut you a piece of pipe and put the flanges on it for you, just dont tell them what it is for, if you do they legally cant make it for you.

Yep ^^^

Just get the measurements and sketch what you want. Have them make it with the correct flanges and ball joint.

Then just put it on yourself.

The way it works around here is the same. Just make sure you know who runs the shop and talk about a "straight" exhaust before hand. Then remove the cat, and drive up. Normally they want a little extra for this risk, but hell $10-20 is just a tip.

most places (around here anyway) will not do it. I had mine done because I know the guys at the shop real well.....they just pocket the money....no bill or anything. Since I had dual cats..It cost me $60.00. I went to different exhaust shop to see if I could get some work done on it...and they wouldn't even put in on a lift since I didn't have my cats......

We have emmission laws here....but they aren't enforced....we don't have check-ups or anything like that......
