Tt wont harm anything. I ran without a catback for months in the dead of winter too and everything worked out fine until I got my headers and full exhaust on.

no mufflers is definately the hill billy approach, but as long as the cops don't bother you then it's ok. I am guilty of no mufflers for a while as well.

Now i have spiralflows, they're about as loud as i can handle for a friday night fun car.

i ran without anything past the cat for a couple months too.. i would probly have put a catback on it, but it honestly just wasnt that loud with the L03... low power motor and manifolds and the cat maked it quiet enough that i wasnt bothered... i also have a vert, so the sound can excape the cabin easily... that probly helped.

oddly enough, i got a ton more compliments about my exhaust with the catback off then any other exhaust.. ever.

couple of points though:

1. its a 305. that means smaller bore. it makes a slightly diffrent tone then a 4" bore motor. it just doesnt sound as sh!tty. most 4" and larger bore motors (350s) will sound cruddy, hence the stereotype

2. with manifolds and a cat, you can bearly hear it at idle... the sound is still muffled.

3. it will vibrate the floor pan, so you feel the exhaust..... some dont mind, others find it annoying.

Same thoughts here. I was nervous when I put in my cutout thinking it may start making the annoying popping/gurgling of straight piped trucks, but it didn't, it sounds awesome. I can barely hear it at idle, I swear with it running through the flowmaster at idle it is louder. My floor pan vibrates a lot, especially when my tranny goes into OD, tickles my feet and the women like the vibration in their seat.......

I'm not running a muffler right now, I kind of like the burbling sound when I let off the gas. And yeah, my neck happens to be red right now. (too much sun at the autocross track) It's not going to stay that way, but I'll enjoy the sound while I can. It's only intolerable when accelerating in a parking garage.
