Best headers w/o Emissions

I am looking for some good shortie headers that come with out the Air tubes, but they must be ceramic coated and have a Y pipe availible. What should I get?

Sounds like you're talking about Hedmans that you either send somewhere for coating, or buy from a coating house (like our sponsor above, ACS).

I've been looking into this sort of system for a few weeks, and there's a few options. Get either Hooker 2055s or hedman (68470 & 17470) coated by ACS. They can remove the air pipes that the 2055 have and coat them. Also they can add O2 bungs if you need/want.

There's also SLP-30005C from Spohn for something like $555 last time I looked :

1 3/4" primary :

The cheapest option is the hedmans but the 2.5" pipe after the Y is restrictive. The hookers and slp work out roughly the same coated, though the slp is stainless as well as being 1 3/4"....

Cool, do you know how much they charge to remove the AIR tubes and add the O2 bung?

I ran into the same problem when I got my hedders. I wanted shorties that came ceramic coated without AIR but with an 02 bung. SLP's 1 5/8" did not come coated without AIR at the time but their other hedders did . Every other hedder came with AIR tubes or without the coating. This was before ACS was around so my options were limited. I ended up with the flowtechs. Although they are garbage (quality aside) they came without AIR, coated and with an 02 bung.

What exactly is wrong with the flowtechs? I have heard everyone say the suck but I have never heard any specifics.

PS: I am not even considering these headers

Upon arrival the head flanges were warped (percy's dead soft gaskets are the only cure here). The collectors fail to seal no matter what type of gasket you use. The supplied collector gaskets last a whoppin 5 minutes before you hear the infamous "tick" "tick". The 02 bung needed to be drilled out which is no big deal becuase you could use these on a non 02 car. The ceramic coating is really nice though (not done by flowtech I would imagine). Welds are ok but sorta shroud the primary. It fit the bill at the time and I only am exhaling through a stock headed LT1 cammed 305 but when funds arrive these babies are out.

Correct. But I geuss that is what you get when a hedder's base price is $99. I only spent like 430 after shipping and coating to my door which is pretty good so I didn't really blow the bank. I forgot to mention how poor the y-pipe was in my rant about these things. It looks like a 3 year old made it in art class. Horrible.

EDIT: Forgot to metion that your best bet is with the moddifed 2055's from ACS. I am not sure if you can get SLP's non AIR hedders coated right from them yet. Send the guys ACS a PM or email and they will get back with you. Great people to work with.

I don't mean to hijack your thread

is dynomax good? I've been looking at headers and for some reason those just look good to me. they would come witha Y pipe wouldn't they?

For ACS prices etc just click on the link above! There's a couple of folks asked these questions, just skim through to see what the ACS guys have written as response.
