I have side Side Exit Exhaust

heck yeah my d00ds at rainbow mufler got me a true 3" side exit(on the passenger side), exiting exhaust. No muffler no cat.

It sounds so mean, and omg its awesome d00ds. all the noise comes from the passenger side, how i wanted it to.

old setup, anyone want the muffler and everything shown, make me a small offer. I didn't pay for it so i'll take anything, the highest i get.

No muffler and no cat are going to get really annoying down the road. I hope you have tollerable neighbors and passengers.

I was thinking of chopping my muffler off for a while just because the mounts on it are rusting out and I can't afford to fix it. Got a flowmaster 40 series on there right now....I think. It's a v6...dunno how annoying that would get...

I like the exhaust! Cool side exit! ...but I think you will get tired of the volume. I know the chicks can't resist you either, and will they want to ride in the car with all that?
.....all joking aside, even if you LOVE it, for a daily driver, you AND your passengers may end up hating it!

....as for the cam, that's not all that big really. Is that the biggest you can go in your LB9? Within reason of course........

as for the cam, thats what the guys in my car club suggested to make the noise louder at idle, i'm not really looking to make that much of a performance gain from this.

Aside from you being a tard... no muffler on a stock 305 sounds like **** no matter how you slice it. Of course.. that's just my opinion.....

I can bet it doesn't sound much better than a v6 with open exhaust.
Unless of course you like the **** beater, raggedy old 1976, 305 farm truck that the exhaust fell off 3 years ago sound... then... I'm sure it sounds sweet as hell.

it dont sound like that tho d00d.

there was a guy at the exhaust shop, with a 383, and he just got 3" Dual to the tips, and we both reved our engine and everyone there agreed mine sounded better.

And this 383 can/could do burnouts in 4wd so dont underestimate it. It had two mufflers on it too(one for each Dual line).

o that was with stock mani and stock 20 year old cat with no muffler. i was just proving that it doesn't ALWAYS sound like a 70's pick up. a guy i used to work with has a 78 dodge pick up with true duals with glasspacks only. it sounds like @SS BIG TIME so i know what u're talking about. my no muffler, never sounded like that....now after i did my headers without a cat or muffler it wasn't too good sounding, but only above 3k was it bad. and it was finally as lound as i wanted it....o well

i know what your thinking, becuase of the minimal amount of pipe it seems to not rasp as much as you may think is does.

Thats basically what I made for my '83 Z28, except I put a muffler where the cat used to be, under the passenger seat. IMO, it actually sounds better than it did with open exhaust. Its got a really nice, choppy/cammy idle thats not too loud but has presence. At WOT, its about as loud as it would be with a cut out, and cruise is about as loud as the stock system was.

I just got a single 3" in/out turbo-style muffler in there. IMO, you should do the same. It will sound even better, and you'll be able to make friends with your neighbors again

Is your car a daily driver?

When I did headers and an open y pipe, it sounded sooooooo good and pissed off. But forget it if you wanted to listen to music or have a conversation. Get some sound clips, all the others I heard with a 305 never pleased me...

i said maybe they are afraid, or something of the sort, i didn't they they for surely are afraid of it.]

Its beyond my control. I love the sound of it and it sounds great truste me, the compliments keep coming fromeveryone. Maybe my motor is a little more built then i though.

One clue thati have is that the engine didn't have exhaust manifold gaskets when i took them off so its been taken out before. So iunno.

Hey Mr. Perfect...I'll give you one dollar for the muffler setup. How old was this girl anyway? Let me guess...Hmmm..a twelve year old blonde who's had one too many lollipops? Can someone say sugar rush? Here we go again about you thinking you've got some mysterious motor that has more torque and hp than you thought. D0od...most of us dont want to tell you the truth cuz we're all sceered! The tip looks nice though.

HAHA...twelve year olds aren't legal Shane The exits look good...but you will grow tired of your constantly loud and annoying exhaust. BTW d00d...trust me...your engine didn't come built from the factory nor did you get some super secret test engine and nobody tinkered with it before you got your hands on it. That car has come a long way...used to look like crap but you have done some cool stuff to it...other then the fur (PETA will get your *** for that one )and the ghetto t-top holders. Keep up the work and please cut out the d00d...reminds me of an annoying middle school kid.

well one thing that i have noticed is an major increase in fuel economy. I mean a major one. Before with my lead foor i was geting 11-12MPG, but its been going good now. Major improvement there. Its been at a half tank, something it never was at before for a few days. Before it'd be at half tank for one ride then move on. But the guage works when i brake and accel it moves as the gas moves too. I think the gas improvemnt will well over stall all cost for it. I am normally spending $45 in gas a week, for about 250Miles of driving per week.

i know 11-12 sounds bad but i think my exhaust was leaking near the O2 sensor becuase of extra back pressure now that theres nothing stopping the exhaust it seems to be flowing better.

I really wouldnt of went the way u did, the exhaust coming out of one side only looks tacky to me. should of just kept the stock exhaust and gotten the electric cutout as i mention. IMO

shane comeon man. think before you speak.

plus 11-12 mpg is horrible, especially stock. you've got problems. get a tune-up and replace your O2 sensor. I got 21 mpg city stock, and about 17 city modded.

I still think you should get a muffler on there. A performance muffler. You really will like the way a good 3" in/out Turbo-style muffler will sound. Just look up my thread about the same system, and you'll see what I mean. From 20ft, you can't hear mine idle (once it warms a little anyway) but its set off car alarms idleing because its a very uhh... bassy?... sounding exhaust.

plus 11-12 mpg is horrible, especially stock. you've got problems. get a tune-up and replace your O2 sensor. I got 21 mpg city stock, and about 17 city modded.
man, that bums me out ...i get 10-11 mpg... but i have a L69. yes i have new plugs wires cap and all that crap. o well

While I may agree with him being a tard, and this exhaust stupid, you're statement is also equally stupid, i know my STOCK 305 sounded pretty damn good with no muffler, hell no intermediate pipe at all for that matter. (yes it has since been hooked back up)

To call my opinion stupid, then give yours doesn't make much sense to me but, oh well.
I've had open edelbrock headers/ypipe on my 87.. TPI 305, sounded awful. Edelbrock headers, at least the ones I possesed, also had the tendancy to produce a 'beating a large paper bag' sound around the 1700rpm resonant frequency making it all the more souind like ***. Same car, hooker headers, open pipe duals at the rear.. sounded awful. I've had stock exh. open at the y-pipe on my old 84.. lg4 305, quite the p.o.s. sounding car (as it was one anyways). My 91.. 305 TBI, came- hollow cat, no muffler, pipes out to the rear... sounded like an old, raggedy p.o.s farm truck. Friends old 81 camaro, 305 2v, blackjack LT headers open... sounded like.. take a guess.
Sorry if I don't think puny stock or near stock 305's have that NASCAR sound to them just because the muffler was lopped off to make it 'intimidating', 'high horsepower' or 'scare the bjebus out of an import and hope he won't race me because I don't truely have the power to back the sound or a chance in hell beat him' loud.
All my opinion based on what I've heard and what I personally find a good/pleasing/badass/powerful tone.... it's not as if I have never head a 305 with open exhaust before....

Thats because of the way mine is set up... yours points straight out, whereas mine points about 45* down and is about 8-10" in from the side of the car, so mine resonates under the car ALOT. The curb of the sidewalk being right there might also have had something to do with it.

Keep in mind though, that video was taken with a digicam meant for taking pictures, not really for taking high quality sound recordings. It does sound a bit different in person.

there was a guy at the exhaust shop, with a 383, and he just got 3" Dual to the tips, and we both reved our engine and everyone there agreed mine sounded better.

And this 383 can/could do burnouts in 4wd so dont underestimate it. It had two mufflers on it too(one for each Dual line).
i had no muffler for about a day when i had my 305 if you think its sounds good i think you should get your hearing checked

I had to run with an open y-pipe on my 305 for a day. It sucked. How could you deal with that every day. Just because your car is unmuffled doesnt mean it's fast or anything. Get a good cat-back.
