No muffler, high flow cat on 6cyl

I was wondering if anyone has heard a 6cyl with a flowmaster 40 and with no muffler at all. My car has stock headers and a high flow cat. The muffler mounts are rotting off the car and I don't have the money to fix it, and when I do I'll be replacing the muffler so I wanted to wait. As a quick fix I wanted to saw the muffler off and just run with no muffler for a while....is this going to be stupidly loud or not all that much louder then with the muffler on now?

My stock 305tpi sounded pretty cool with the stock muffler and mani's and a 3" pipe dumping just past the axle on my car. It was like that for a day and a half before I had my muffler welded on

It sounded very nice for a peanut-cammed 305, so your V6 can't sound *that* bad

Flowmaster on a v6 sounds bad enough. Nothing at all sounds absolutely awful.

Damn...I was hoping I could do that just for a quick fix for the time being.....really don't wanna keep driving around with only 1 mount holding the muffler and tips up...

Why not just fix it instead of lopping everything off ?

I'm very very broke, I got a quote for $250 for new muffler and tips...flowmaster 40 delta flow but I can't afford that now...it also sounds like there's something in my muffler so I'm gonna have to change it anyways so I figured if I could take it off and leave it like that for a few months without it being annoyingly loud and sounding like crap then I could fix it RIGHT in a few months....

Believe me, I fully understande the being broke phenom.
I was just angling towards going to Autozone or similar and buying a $3 universal hanger and $2 muffler clamp. Bolt together and call it a day. Better than listening to an open exhaust v6 or, the pipe just banging around as you drive.

I would also suggest a Dynomax cat-back for a replacement. Considerbly cheaper than $250 and way less obnoxious than Flomaster (as far as v6 exhaust goes). Just my opinion tho...

Dont do the straight pipe thing. I bought my 86 2.8 bird with a single straight pipe, and it sounds like a *****. It pops after accelerating and letting off the gas, and it is annoying at at highway speed. I will probably be replacing it with a dynomax cat back and some nice tips

I have a 1992 RS 3.1L with a stock cat and a straight pipe-only because my muffler rusted out and its getting a 383 stroker this winter with true duals so 6 cylinder exhaust would waste my cash- at idle it sounds decent it rumbles but when i stomp on it it pops and sounds like ****- but i can put up with it for another 2 months

I have a 91 RS 3.1 and i like myt flowmaster it sounds good with a intake on it makes the rumble deeper. At high RPM it will pop but driving around it sounds nice. You also hear it in the car very well which sucks.

I had a 2.8 with the flowmaster...had some mild popping when I let off, but not much. Also had 2.5 in cat for high flow. Sounded good. At idel people thought it was an 8. Open throttle however, definately shows the 6...

Now I cammed it and gasket match ported the heads, plenum, runners, lower intake, then the popping was gone...

Got the 3.4 in with the same cam and top end...then got PF&E headers...then got a cut out before the cat. Sounds real good a idle with the lope and all. But loud!

Not bad for a short commute, but hard on long drives at high RPMs. Only popping is @ 70MPH if I let off the gas completely!

Check that no popping at 70...has to be more like 80+ and then a full drop off of gas....otherwise there is NO popping at any other speed
