Dynomax Dual 2¼ Setup Help

I have the Dynomax Dual 2¼ pipes with two Ultra Flow mufflers. The mufflers are center in/center out. How are these mufflers hung? This is how i want to have my back to look, exhaust-wise.

The second pic (i think thats how its gonna show up) is the paper that came with the dual pipes. It shows that i need center in and offset out (im guessing that dynomax mufflers are reversible). Now, would it be easy and fine for me to mount and hang the mufflers the way i want and the way it is in the in the above pic (black mufflers)? Or would i be better off sending my center in/center out mufflers back and getting the offset ones so i can mount everything the way dynomax wants? Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

I had that same system on my car, I think its part 89003?

Anyhow, yeah thats how they want the system, One muffler uses the center as an intake, and the other uses the offset as an intake. I had ALOT of problems mounting this system due to severe clearance issues, it WILL fit. but its very tricky. The system does make your car sound VERY powerful, and has a very nice crackle.

I ended up changing my system because cops and inspection stations hated me as I was running no cats and my engine was hating me because I wasnt running an o2 sensor. I have the ultra flows that are the correct ones for that system, I can sell them to you for like 40 each if you like.

89009 I believe is the correct part number for 82-89 Camaro. 89003 shows up as a truck exhaust system.

What changed between 89 and 90 is beyond me as far as the exhaust goes.

I have the mufflers and the pipes..
My question is does anyone know how the person in the first picture mounted those mufflers? I understand how to mount the mufflers the way that Dynomax wants, but i would rather do it the other way... i just want to know where to mount the hangers to hold the mufflers up? thanx

Is it really that difficult to figure out?

Use the stock hangers to the frame rail, weld the "hook" from stock-type tailpipes on the new pipes. The hook may have to be fabricated, however. Or, use a universal hanger bolted onto the frame rail.

If you're going to do something different than an out-of-the-box bolt-on kit, figure on needing to figure out a few little details like this. If this little thing has you stumped before you even start, you're probably in way over your head.

107 view with no suggestions is peanuts.

I always start way over my head..otherwise whats the point of starting something new? Im just trying to learn.
I haven't gotten a chance to put the car up to check out how they would mount. I just parked the car today for the winter and i have to clean our the garage before i can even put the car up on stands. I just figured someone would look at that pic and it would be theirs or they have done something similar and could give me some tips/pointers.
I have (obviously) never touched fabbing an exhaust that is not bolt on in my 18 years. My exhaust guy just got into a serious accident with a fourwheeler and is going to be out until spring, so i was going to figure out the mounting for the mufflers and such so he would have to do less work.
It may not be difficult for u to figure out, but im a newbie at this kind of stuff. I've never drilled a hole into a car that wasn't originally supposed to be there. I've never put up an exhaust by myself either. This is just a learning process for me, that's all. Didn't mean to ask useless questions, i just wanted to have an idea before i go under the car

Okay, I'll admit I was a little terse there.

You can sort of make out the stock hanger in the top picture. It appears they used it, but it isn't obvious.

Just changing the mufflers from the intended to the proposed location is going to involve a lot of fabrication. The hangers are a piece of cake for a regular exhaust fabricator guy.

well, i guess i can always check it out in the next coupla days.. if i dont think i can do it (the most possible scenario) i'll call summit and ask if i can return these never used mufflers for ones with an offset.. otherwise i'll buy the mufflers i need over the winter, since the car itself is parked and off of the insurance.
I just think its gonna be a bit odd to have both tailpipes exiting on one side.. oh well, that'll just add to the more 'unique'ness of the car..
As u can see how much of a newbie i am at this.. just imagine what its gonna be like this fall, winter, and spring when i plan to prep and paint my car.. hehe

There are several systems that exit both pipes on one side - SLP comes to mind. The theory is you keep the exhaust moving in the same direction, so it must be more efficient.

I was rummaging around the garage attic last night looking for something else when I came across a stock tailpipe hanger hook I had removed from a system going to the trash. For "possible future use", you know.

Planning is a good thing. Spending time under the car getting to know one another is another good thing.
