pain in the @$$ header
pain in the @$$ header
Hi, im taking off my headers to put on the edelbrock TES system, and everything went great until the last bolt. Imagine that! It stripped, the heat shield is in the way, and i cant get at it with anything!
Any help?!?

Which bolt? The one all the way in back on the pass side? If so that one threads in first and the header flange slips in behind it.
Yeah its that one... I figured out what happened. I tried loosening the first bolt that holds on the heat shield. But I loosened the whole bolt, which turned the heat shield to bend itself around the nut. So when i reajdusted the wrench, I couldn't get a square grip on the bolt and stripped it. So, now i dont know what to do, I'm going to try to cut the heat shield (not a lot of space up there so that might not work.) and then get 2 wrenches up there, one to hold the bolt and the other to get the first nut off.. If there is anything else i should do, please tell me, haha, I am so frustrated right now.

Sorry, I misread the post.
I too used penitrating oil and I remember the heat sheilding being a problem. IIRC, I think I cut or broke the sheilding away and jsut undid the entire thing to get the bolt off. That area is a real pain.
