what is the benefit of having a full length exhaust as opposed to having an exhaust that ends closer to my y- pipe I don't see how that would help or hurt emissions or be too loud so long as it is not a race muffler.

additional questin
also I would think that having the 1/2 exhaust would not only be cheaper but I would think making the air travel less distance would improve performance. is this true as long as pipe diameter and all other variables were similar??? how would this affect backpressure???

The thing I would worry about is with a short exhaust a lot of carbon monoxide will get into the car. When I got my z28 the kid before me replaced the cat with a flowmaster and that was it, it was unbelievably loud and I had to leave the window down all the time so I didnt die of CO poisoning.

Dont forget about the sound difference that depends on the length of pipe coming off the muffler. For this reason I want to get a low profile muffler and have it dump right before the rear axle.

though I doubt yo uwould see much difference from this but shorter exhuast will change the resonace point of the exhuast a little higher helping out with the upper end rpm range
though again doubt you would see much unless you want to match you entire intake and exhuast to match that point

the extra 4 ft of pipe doesnt make that much difference on the price, performance or space for that matter, you want space issues, i got 3 inch duals, not 3 inch caps, my pipes are 3 inch from the header to the tip, try gettin your local muffler shop to do that one for you, o yeah its aluminized also, no rust, ever ever ever, that aint cheap, and sounds better then most after market exhaust i have heard
