Problems with open exhaust?

Wat problems would occur with a open exhast system? (headers, and two 2 foot pipes pointing to the ground)

Mine ran fine with an open y pipe, but after putting the exhaust back on, it felt like I gained a ton of torque back.

Yea, whenever I've driven cars with open headers or open exhaust manifolds, they had no torque compared to how they ran with a closed exhaust.

I tried staight pipes on my 1966 Grand Prix w/389 4bbl once. Went by a police station and it was so loud I drowned out the police dispatcher. Once I was out of hearing range a police cruiser was dispatched and shortly thereafter I was pulled and given a big fat ticket.

Gosh, I miss that car. It would flat out haul *** too.
