www.summitracing.com lists p/n PSM-70-1206 for '85-'89 V6. That's the only ones I've ever heard of for 3rd gen f-body V6.
I can't tell from what their website says whether or not they are "emissions legal". I would assume they are. However, since they are listed for a model year other than your car, they may not pass muster in Kalifornia.
You may have to settle for a high-flow aftermarket cat for your year/model/engine and a cat-back that help it flow a little better and sound different. Just be aware that loud exhaust systems that would sound great with a V8 just make the typical V6 sound annoying.

well then you need a bad *** motor my friend. those hotrodded v6's are only cool if you totally know what your doing. they are expensive to get going fast. Pacesetter makes the ONLY set of headers and the are sold through summit racing, and the p/n is in the second post down.

so go ask on the v6 board why they are specifically for 85+ and what you can do to make them work on your 83.

I say get rid of the V6, throw it over your neighbor's fence and put in a TPI 350 with a full exhaust system and you will have the real sound you're looking for.

there are a million and two ways to put a 350 in the car, go look in the Engine Swap forum for the sticky that says something like "v6-v8 swap, READ FIRST". it won't give you a rundown of prices, but it will give you a rundown of parts. my first v8 swap cost me less than $1000. but that was a lot of hand-me-downs and good deals.
