Header bolt help!!

Okay so i blew a header gasket on the passanger side. The problem is i attempted to replace it and got everything in but the bolt closest to the fire wall. Now the gasket is bad, i need to replace it again. My question is how did you guys get to that bolt? btw i have hooker 2055's.

I am guessing that it's the one on the passenger side. It's a pain and you will need to find the smallest length wrench to fit in the confined space. I had to remove the emission items out of the way to get a better handle on the bolt.

Get a cheap wrench and cut it in half. I also ground the sides of mine down making it narrower so you can get more of a rotation before you hit the header tube with the side of the wrench, and keep it in the toolbox as my “header wrench”

Thats what I did. That combined with my skinny arm worked wonderfully.

You probably have done it already but for those that are new and looking to become shade tree mechanics, I would suggest disconnecting the battery cable. Last thing you need is a fire when you drop your tool on the starter when you are removing or installing headers, spark plugs or just general work around the engine.

Go from underneath. Drop the Y-pipe to that side, and the starter. Use a crow's foot and a ratchet.
