'82 T/A question
I've had my '82 T/A for almost a year now and am curious about a few things. My exhaust looks nothing like I've seen for a 3rd gen F-body. It has two mufflers mounted transversly behind the rear axle. There is a cross pipe the connects the two and and this pipe has two pipes welded to it forming a sort of double T. These two go back to a Y pipe that is in front of the axle. I know I explained it sort of backwards, basically it goes from cat to Y, up over the axle, double T intersection, one muffler on each side with a turn down tip.
I was just wondering if this was a stock setup or something the previous 2 owners installed (father passed car down to son, also owned his own garage) If it is stock, I would be very shocked, as it is in excellent condition, being that the car is in NH and has 119K miles on it.

this setup is stock because my 82 TA has the exact same setup. looks kind of restricitve IMO and next on the to-do list for me is a hooker super comp cat back plus a 10 year old O2 sensor my dad bought.

Thanks, everyone I asked locally had never seen/heard of this setup. It seems like it would be alot less restrictive without that dang T intersection (having the two tubes stay seperated and bend 90 degrees to each muffler would seem to be more logical) Also could something like this setup be an answer for the start of a true dual exhaust setup with zero ground clearence issues?

You know, I've seen those setups before and never really noticed the way the over the axle pipe split and entered the setup. Thanks for the pics guys...
