Hooker 2055 Passenger flange hitting a-frame
Hi everyone, I really need some help here. I'm trying to put a set of hooker 2055's on and the driver side went fine and the passenger side at first didn't fit right, didn't bolt to the heads near the #8 plug, so come to find out the flange was hitting the a-frame. Took the grinder and took off some metal. Put it back on and it still hitting(scratching head). The header now bolts to the heads but the flange is rubbing against the a-frame part. This will cause vibration in the car. Has anyone else come across this? Did I do something wrong? I tried to line the Y-pipe and it lines up but the flange on the y-pipe also hits the a-frame and cannot be fully seated to tighten. I put new rubber motor mounts on the car two years ago. Any help would be great, thanks.

I'm not sure what you're hitting there. Any chance of posting a pic?
Mine clears in that area with no problem.

Thanks Five7, the flange on the bottom of the header is hitting right about one of the bushings for the A-Arm/Frame..sorry not sure but if you look at your y-pipe you'll see it's right near this bushing, right above it (the metal) is where it's hitting. I called Holley today and They told me to grind the a-arm area to acheive 1/8" clearance. IS that about what you have?
I'll try to get a pic up tonight for a better view...thanks.

I'll have to look again, but the flange doesn't even appear to be close to the a-arm bushing. Y-pipe, yes.

I tried to get a pic last night but came home to two sick kids so I'll try again tonight.
Do you have a pic of the area so maybe I can see if mine is like yours? Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Both pair i have rub the starter so i trimmed them there and other problem was they hit the part of the bellhousing where the inspection cover bolts to so i just trimmed them but i have tons of room between frame and body. Check ur trans mount and motor mounts.

Hm, yours seem to "hug" the block tighter than mine. As for the mounts, they are all new.
You know you stated the starter...is your y pipe near your bushing in the a fram as well?
Also what kind of clearance do you have down there. The guy at Holley told me 1/8" would do it....no one has any vibration or rattles?

Man, I had the same exact problem on my 2055s. Hitting the a-arm mount on the pax side. I ground and ground both on the collector flange and on the frame until I finally got it to fit. Then I tried to bolt the ypipe up. Wasn't going to happen.... not without cutting the ypipe and making a custom one. I never found out what the problem was, but I do have a set of $410 Hooker paperweights. I put the Flowtechs back on they fit great.... too bad the flanges are so thin. I wonder if Hooker had a QC problem??? I thought I was the only one with my Hookers not fitting. I bought them because so many on this board have had such good success with them and I figured I spend a few more bones to not have to fab this, that and the other thing.

iceman that is exactly what I'm doing now and your pic is just like my flange. I have a set of 2460's and those fit great but the customer ypipe I have that is the worst. I may grind some more to see if I can get it to fit but I'm glad you responded..by the way did you let Hooker know? When I called he said I was the first one to call about this problem.
