Few Questions
im kinda new to this exhaust thing...my stock exhaust is now experiencing a few probs....crack at the bend in the y- right before the cat....hole on the muff, and weld has broken on the muffler on the inlet pipe.....so .ive started searching and constantly see hooker 2055's and slp's 1 3/4's showing up... ive read they both goto a 3'' collector blah blah blah... i want to goto a 3'' exhuast since ive also read that theres a marginal difference from a true duel 2 1/2's all the way. and also costs would be cheaper.
So here are my questions.....
I was at a shop today said they;d put on dynomax headers, 3 inch to a 2 1/2 inch over the rear axel to either a flowmaster, flowpro or a ravin.. (midas) which i wasn't to pleased about cause well ive been wanting a 3'' all the way through. is this abnormal to have it reduced down to a 2 1/2 over the axle? and i couldn't find much on the dynomax headers so im sorta iffy about doing so....are they any good or junk?
And i guess my next question which headers should i go with really, i know i need something without air and hopefully comes with y-pipe cause they seem to be kinda expensive as single parts. ive seen that hooker comes with "the best y-pipe" around but i havn't been able to find the 2055 on their site...maybe im just stupid and ive heard slp may be to big for my motor (since im nowhere near 400 hp)... so...here are my engine specs and some recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at the various cat back kits that are offered for our cars. Most of them are 3" all the way back and will be mandrel bent. Exhaust shops typically cannot duplicate the bends and pipe consistancy of a pre fabbed cat-back. They also tend to charge more. You can get a 3" cat back to your door for under $300. Simple hand tools will be all you need to install them.
As for headers I would look at the non AIR SLP's. Most other headers for our cars come with AIR. You can however modify a set and cut the tubes off and weld the holes shut. This is extra fab work that can be avoided with the SLP's. The macs have a less obtrusive AIR tube and you may want to check them out as well.

Hooker 2055's: Start at holley.com, click on Hooker Headers (kind of like a footnote), then Super Competition Headers, Emissions Compatible, and General Motors. Camaro will come up at the top of the page, 2055HKR at the top of the list.
Necking down to 2-1/2" to get over the axle means they aren't very confident in their capabilities. It's highly unusual, and uncalled for. Get an aftermarket cat-back and install it yourself (or, they might install it for you).
This must have been a Midas shop. Forget them, find a real exhaust shop. And get yourself a real exhaust set-up.

so would the SLP 1 3/4 be too big? or should i stick with 1 5/8th primaries on the hookers?

I would (and did) go the catback route though... A well known local shop here wanted $600cdn to make a mandrel bent 3" exhaust for my Camaro. I got a Hooker 3" catback for just under $400cdn , shipping included. The Hooker system fit like a glove and sounds great!

so does the hooker 2055's come without air..and the y-pipe? all i see from their site is they are emissions legal and im not sure if it has all the hookups for emissions or not... cause as it stands right now i do not have an egr valve on the car. so that is my only concern...does emissions legal mean... has all the emisisons stuff aka egr to recycle exhaust or air as in something else...

EGR is not connected to the headers on 3rd gens. If you have aluminum Vette (aka ZZ4) heads, or Vortec heads, then you need to tap the header for the exhaust gases. Otherwise, factory iron heads have cross-over passages to feed the EGR.
2055's are only available with A.I.R. and O2 sensor. They also include the y-pipe.
