Magnaflow has eleventy billion cat options

I'm trying to find a stainless steel cat for my 86 (LG4), with AIR and heat shield, 3" in/out and I guess 3-way (not even sure what this means... better emissions?). So I hop on the Magnaflow site and get buried in links and options. My best guess was part #94319, but I can't find any info on it. Is this the correct one? Can anyone figure out what I need?

Are you looking for a stock replacement or a 3" unit with the specs you desire?

I know that is why I put the "or" in there. Meaning did he need a 2.25" one or an aftermarket one for an exhaust system he may or may not have.

Aftermarket 3" in/3" out. I just want it to be in the same location and fit nicely with 3" pipes and 3" Y.

And can anyone fill me in on the difference between 2-way and 3-way cats?

A Catco 9118 is a 3" in/out with an AIR tube. It is a direct TPI replacement and retails for roughly $127 or so from summit. It will slide onto a 3" y-pipe and bolt to any '86 or later TPI tailored cat-back. They also sell a slip fit unit with AIR that is application generic.

3-way cats work on all three of the emissions related gasses; nitric oxides, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons. If the engine does not run about 1% of stoich all three of these gasses won't be reduced as effectivly as they could. 2-ways cats are often used with engines (open loop carb applications) that can't operate with the norrow band of A/F ratios 3-way cats need. They subsequntly only really take care of Nox.

I just browsed thier site and a universal 3" with AIR P/N is 94319.

3" universal without AIR is 54309

94019 would also work and is a universal 3" with AIR that doesn't have the mirror finish 94319 has.

Sorry for the jumbled post but I started to post random notes as I read the site.

You don't have any sensors in your converter which elimintates many of the ones they have to choose from.

They offer many universal 3" round type converters without AIR but I would look for an oval unit. They will tuck up better seeing how ground clearance is always an issue with these cars.

EDIT: You basically can choose from 5 or 6 units that they sell. They have a great selection if you ask me.
