piping for the dual cats

Ok, I wanna finally add some headers and don't want to mess much with the connection piping to the dual cats.
I asked at summit if there is something to "just" bolt on.
They said, get the Edelbrock tubulars (EDL-68762 )

Can anyone confirm me that this is a kit that I won't have problems with the install, incl. the pipes to the two cats.

Are there other suggestions for my application? (Hooker, Hedman)

Thanks alot for the help!

Greets
Pat

Have you searched?

Edelbrock is not a big favorite on this board (you might want to try a search for "Edelcrock.") IIRC SLP also has something for dual cats, but SLP is another brand that has its detractors.

Sure I searched.

But sometimes the more you read the more confusing it gets...

It seems that all the manufacturer have their lows. In one post i read that the hedmans are good and in an other I read that they are trash... What can I belive now?

Unfortunately over here you can hardly find a car that has headers. So there are not much people over here that can say these or the other ones are the way to go. So I'm pretty much stuck.

The other problem seems to be that there are not much out there, that have the tubes for the dual cats. I know that I can have them custom made, but its alot cheaper to get the whole set.

So please HELP me...

Thank you
Pat

You could just run a 3" y-Pipe into a 3" cat and save the trouble. Catco sells 3" OEM style bolt-on high flow cats for our cars.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...ular_app.shtml 68762 Footnote (A) "Requires cutting and welding for installation." You have to cut the stock pipes to the cats in order to fit what they give you in the kit to them. Not a big deal, but not by defination a "bolt on".

I don't know if that's the case with the Hedmans as well, but their website doesn't include that footnote (other application headers of theirs do). The only "nit" I've heard about the Hedmans is the single cat y-pipe, which, just like everybody but Hooker, isn't 3" for the entire length after the 2 banks come together.

Converting to single cat would involve replacing the entire exhaust (at least through the I-pipe), and would not be legal in some emissions areas (such as California). If you did that, though, the Hooker 2055's are the way to go.

The only problem with the Hooker 2055's is (from what I've been able to find out) that they have a footnote that they will not work with the dual cats either. Did I miss something?

Converting to single cat would surely cause problems here too.

So you would recommend the hedmans? (I read an old post and seen that they have the dual y-pipe also)

If its only cutting the original pipe and welding the new ones, that would be ok.

You missed the part about converting the entire system to single cat.

Yep, you're right. I read he wanted to stay with the dual cat system (they're great IMO) and then saw you recommend the 2055's.

My misteak, going to fast again for an old phat phart,,,

I got a set of Hedman knockoffs for a Chevelle (they are made by Patriot). I will never buy another product from that company (Patriot) ever again. On a separate note, the driver's side header contacts the steering shaft and, from what I understand, all the headers do that, because they are Hedman knockoffs. (And, the companies that make these headers have to know this, which is another source of aggravation). I spent $50 modifying the driver's side header to clear the steering shaft.

Okay, I realize that this is a Chevelle and not a Camaro, and my rant is over.

But, that's the reason why I just ordered a custom set of headers from Dyno Don.

If I had dual cats I was going to keep, I'd go with the Hedmans, personally.
