Well, I started my swap this afternoon and have the d/s header on already. I'm running MSD 8.8 S/C wires as well and the boots seem to have plenty of clearance so far and this side looks tighter for wires than the P/S. Tomorrow I'll get that last #@%&* rear bolt out of the P/S and I'll post my results and opinion (if anyone's interested). So far I've been blessed with no rust, no broken studs, the dipstick tube came out fine, didn't break any plugs or sensors, and I only broke 1 diverter valve so far. Once again, thank *** I'm from the south!!

I like the Hedmans better than the edelbrocks, but I reccomended the TES because you can keep all your emissions equipment.
You guys should run your plug wires under the headers.

I bought the Edelborck ceramic coated headers and I like them. Wasn't hard to put on and the ceramic coating looks good. I had the MSD 8.8's wires, but they didn't hold up well to the header heat. I switched to the Accell extreme's and so far they are holding up.

Any advice/tips on getting the passenger-side rear manifold bolt out?? It's the only one I'm having a hard time reaching and I'm going in from top and bottom!!

I have msd wires and theyre pretty close to the exhaust manifold, a friend of mine told me i should always order plugs wires for a monte carlo because they come longer what do you guys think?

I was using the MSD universal kit. I ran them under and over. Just tried to get a good fit and as far away from the header as possible. But after about a 2 months I noticed cracking on some of the wires. Thats when I went to the Accell's. Havn't had any problems yet with them.

IMO cut to fit wire sets are the only way to go. Anything thats "custom" fit is going to be too long in most cases and no matter how you route them they're going to look like ****. Nothing worse than an engine bay with the plug wires run over everything and tangled up.
These are Moroso Blue Max wires. As long as you make them the right length and loom them together they stay plenty far enough away from the headers.

Well, I finished the header install today.... Whew!
I thought that last rear p/s bolt was a bear to get the old manifold off with, didn't think it would be as bad with the header flanges - HAH! Also, you'd think Edelbrock would include gaskets that had slip-in hooks on the ends, but at least they are nice graphite/aluminum sandwiched pieces that look like they may hold up for a while. Overall, everything fit as promised and it's nice and tight to the chassis. Number 1 & 3 plugs are a bear to get to but they are the only hard ones. After I get the smog system tubes hooked-up tomorrow I'll fire it up with the new Edelbrock cat-back system I also installed today. I can't wait!!
Dialed - Sweet engine!! Does that air-gap fit under the stock hood?

Which headers are best for a 305 without any of the emissions equipment? Are there any clearance issues w/the full length headers?
