Would these manifolds be any better than stock?

I found these manifolds on my local ebay equillant, it say's they are for "older smallblocks", don't know what year. They are $70.

I don't need egr and the air stuff, don't have them on now, and it's stock.

But would it give any power boost? or would L98 manifolds be better? I have the LG4 "log style" ones now.

Use the L98 manifolds and do not spend $70 on those. Those appear to be truck manifolds.

Those don't look much better. You can get used hedman shorties for that price, but you'd still need y-pipe so it'd cost more.

They aren't just truck manifolds... they came on almost every sbc in almost every car throughout the '60s, '70s, and into the '80s.

Trucks, F-bodies, A-bodies.... everything

Would they? Yes! They do fit too in case you were wondering but it would take a real trick muffler shop to fab up a y pipe. BTW they flow alot better then any stock 3rdgen exh manifold.

Those look really cool!

If you do get them, be sure to get a carbide bit and then gasket match the ports to your heads in order to get the most flow possible.

I'd get them bead blasted and paint them with high temp paint first. The paint will probably burn off, but they'd look really good at first.

pass side one wont fit a third gen F body

been there done that with these in my 82 before

reason why not:

top stud hits firewall before you can even mount the manifold to the head

those manifolds were on cars trucks vans from about 69(cars) 73(trucks) through 86(cars quit using them in 79)

the most common design manifolds gm ever made

some are braced and some are not

non braced ones are junk due to being warp/crack prone

the ones in the pic are non braced, they are nice boat anchors

stock restrictive junk, but do sound good with dual pipes, but no good for any performance gains

good luck

Thats odd because I bolted my 76 truck exh manifolds on my 82 no problems.
