Vote on Mandrel bent or Custom bent pieces

I have a custom fabrication shop locally that can weld U&J Bends
to make a complete Y-Pipe or another shop that have a mandrel machine.

If you had a choice what exhaust would you get taking into consideration: restrictiveness and looks.

Place Your Vote Above

1. Pieces of custom fabrication U&J bends welded together.

2. Mandrel Bent

Thanks for Input...

I would definitely prefer the mandrel bent route for several reasons. Firstly, considering aesthetics, the final product will be one smoothly formed pipe (as opposed to having many welds and possible tube distortion from the heat generated during welding). Cost and time are also a consideration. I've done work with CNC tube benders in the past and know that a competent technician can program, set up the tooling and bend a tube in far less time than someone could mock up and weld the shame shape from U- and J- bends. Moreover, using U- and J- bends would generate a significant amount of waste material, whereas the mandrel bent piece is the only material in question. Using logic, the mandrel bent y-pipe should be cheaper and better...however I know that isn't always the case as mandrel bender-equipped shops are few and far between, and tend to charge excessively simply because they can.
