Hooker 2210's, Mufflex Y-Pipe, Borla XR-1 questions
I'm finishing up an install with the Hooker 2210's and Mufflex Y-Pipe in my GTA.
I was wondering which 4" exhaust system to order from Mufflex (single hide-away tailpipe). Do I order an exhaust system for dual or single catalyst car?
I'm also using a Borla XR-1 Oval Racing Muffler instead of their Spintech or Flowmaster. Will it be a straight forward install or will I have to modify the tailpipe and/or I-pipe? The Borla XR-1 is a straight-through (4"center in/4" center out) design and the Flowmaster and Spintech are offset.

I have the same setup but I am just putting a 4" Dynatech or Borla after the Y-pipe with a turndown BEFORE the axle. I'm not into tailpipes and the weight savings is nice.. My guess is that it will still be too loud for the street so I'll probably do a Dynatech cone insert also. Calling them would be the best bet.

any sound clips yet?
I'm just interested in whenther or not it's LOUD or EXTREMELY LOUD. Opinions from a local officer would also be helpful.
Looks good! Had no clue there was a mini oval looking thing inside of it.

I just got done doing the y-pipe tonight. I don't have the I-pipe or tailpipe yet because I'm waiting for an email from Mufflex to see if they could sell me just those peices. I did start her up and man is it LOUD!!!!! I mean D@MN IT"S LOUD!!!! For the heck of it, I placed the Borla muffler right behind the y-pipe opening to see how it would sound. Suprisingly enough it quieted it down some. It will probably be a little quieter once the I-pipe and tailpipe are on. I'll definitely post a sound clip on here once it's all together. Btw, that oval thing in the muffler is what Borla likes to call a "baffle". I believe it's there to help smooth out the tone and help direct the exhaust pulses straight through the muffler.

Got a date with Denny at Mufflex this thursday. He's gonna fab up a 4" from the y pipe to the Borla and a tailpipe. Pics and sound clips coming soon. Hope it looks something like this.

check out www.mufflex-performance.com
It's loud, with straight pipe it would be unbearable. Install is straight-forward.

I got everything brand new so it was all pretty expensive.
1. Hooker SuperComp Full Length Ceramic Coated Headers $650
2. Mufflex Y-pipe with O2 Bungs $290
3. Borla XR-1 Race Series Muffler $190
4. Custom 4" Exhaust done by Mufflex Performance (parts and labor) $500
5. The look on people's faces as I fly by.......... priceless
