4th gen LT headers on 3rd gen?

has any one ever tried or accomplished this feat?, 4th gen long tube headers on a 3rd gen gta If so I could use some pointers. I just can't imagine there being any less room in a 4th gen but it might be so, knowing manufacturing changes. if there are problems what are they? total hieght of headers (hitting ground) steering shaft? pls advise

Bad idea. Port locations on LT1's is different. The headers will bolt to Gen I heads but they'll block off part of the port.

alright I get ya but what do 4th geners do when they replace heads w/G.M. fast burns? Maybe I don't have my sh** together which is highly probable. But being a motor head tells me some one has done that, do they get a diff head than I bought? Looking at my spec sheet those heads are for 1958-2000 which obviously covers the LT1s. Or do they have to buy new headers also? Does g.m.p.p. offer diff heads for LTs I do know that the the intake gask is of LT4 raised disign but that is apples & oranges.
Thanks for the reply, still learnin.

if it's for a 1958-2000 gen 1 motor, it does NOT include LT1s. LT1s are gen 2s, and usually have a few specific parts - heads and headers being some of those.

If anyone goes aftermarket on LT1 heads they don't go GMPP. anything GMPP can provide you can get out of a worked LT1 head, up to 275 cfm.

Also, if you're planning on going with an LT4 head/intake, don't even bother. Everyone thought they needed those parts to go fast and they didnt, now GM is sold out of them. The fastest LT1 in the world is running 8.00s, right behind the fastest LS1 which runs 7.90s. And it does NOT use LT4 parts. Ported LT1 heads will mightily outflow LT4s and the LT1 intake has no problems keeping up.

Also remember that the structure of a 4th gens front end is somewhat dissimilar from the 3rd gen, so there are probably differences in the routing.

no problem. if you're going long tubes on a gen 1 motor i'd recommend the hooker 2210s

2210s huh? That's what I've been told by people but then I go to to the "exhaust board" as I call it, well hell, where I'm at now, I see where this guy has compiled all these probs. Like you said urbanhunter along with my .1 friend in the world that I trust on motors I do need the 1 3/4 primareies w/the 383 I have.
Really, thanks man

fwiw my motor liked a smaller primary. Tried an 1 3/4" and an 1 5/8" back to back and the smaller header pulled the torque done to a usable range and make a smoother, broader power and torque curve. The bigger headers were much peakier.
