muffler sound?? suggestions please

I was wondering if anyone has used any 4" bullet mufflers. I have 2210 headers and a mufflex y pipe. And thought for now I might just put a bullet muffler after the y pipe and turn down before the axle. But I also don't want it really loud or raspy. I've heard magna flow bullets on mustangs and they sound raspy. I definately do not want that sound. Also anyone have any experience with any other 4" mufflers? any that are kind of quiet? I want good flow but have to keep quiet because the cop shop is about 3 blocks away and they are ***holes about this stuff. or just ditch the 4" and y pipe and fab up a 3" system off of the headers and use like some flowmaster 40's and turn down before the axle, but clearance will porably be an issue then.
Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks, Luke.

Bullets are race mufflers. They aren't intended to keep the cops at bay on the street. They will crackle under any kind of power.

Go for something with chambers. Borla makes some great (although pricey) stuff. Flows well, controls sound well.

I ran a bullet under my car for a little while, and 3.5" exhaust pipe. I eventually ditched it because the large diameter of the muffler's case caused it to scrape since my car is fairly low to the ground, and you can only tuck it up so far. I didn't find it to be raspy in that location, it actually sounded fairly smooth in my experience (shorty headers, no cats, and a turndown). I eventually went with an overaxle pipe and mounted the bullet in a rear-firing position -- only then did it sound raspy, possibly because it wasn't bouncing soundwaves off of the ground, I don't know..

I have now upgraded to a Borla XR1 muffler with a driver's side exhaust pipe and it sounds pretty good in my opinion (it is a straight through design though, so it's not quiet by any means).
