5.0 TBI cat replacement
Hi everyone - my first post so go easy.
I have a 1991 formula 5.0 TBI and want to replace the CAT in the exhaust - lucky this is OK in the UK for cars pre 1993(?)
Anyhow the local at my nearest "US Autos" shop sold me a TT pipe replacement that on looking today is, like, alien !!!! I can't figure how to swap the CAT out with this thing as it is :-
a) a little short.
b) has a large flange on the Y pipe side - not a sleeve.
It is labelled as made in the US and has numbers TT29 and AK215.
Does this make sense to anyone?
Should I go back to my part guy and slap him?
Or do I just rip out the whole block and throw in a TPI unit !!!!
thanks for any info in advance
Pat

I have the same engine on my 91 camaro and i just replaced the stock cat at a muffler shop with a free flowing cat that fits our cars and there was no problem the guy did it in like an hour, also now its about half as big at the original helping ground clearance.
