Hooker headers 305/350?

I can get a set of brand new hooker headers on the cheap. They were purchased for a 305. I have a 350. Would they bolt up?

of course. All small blocks have the exact same external dimensions.

Sounds too good to be true. And, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Find out exactly what these headers are (Hooker p/n would be a very good idea). If the answer is "2460", then anything over free is probably too much to pay.

Yeah 5-7 why? I think my 2460's are badass headers. A little hard to install but what else is new. Nice large 3" collectors and a well made y-pipe. All I had too do was modify (fab) the extension pipe to 3" so I could weld it to my magnaflow cat.

The 'new' 2460's have a ball-socket instead of a flange which doesnt really turn some people on and the Y-Pipe is quote "an overpriced piece of garbage" largely due to the fact that you get the pretty much the same flow out of a manifold setup than you do with a 2460 setup.

But if you were to have a Y-pipe made up for the 2460's out of 3" tube you would have a kicka$$ setup.

With my setup i dont need the AIR tubes (2055) but i dont want a tiny Y-pipe(2460) so im looking into getting the 2055's and will remove the AIR fittings. Now i know this may sound stupid but you guys can get the 2460s and get a Y-pipe made up downtown for a hella lot less but im stuck with having to use prefabbed parts so i will have to pony up the extra few hundred $$$ for the 2055's just to get the 3" Y...

I installed my new 2460's last weekend. No ball sockets. Maybe some misinformation is floating around. Got them from Summit two weeks ago. And you only need 3" tube (I cut it off) at the end of the y pipe. 2.5 per side is plenty going into one 3" pipe. Thats 5" worth of flow into 3", think about it.

Sorry, my bad. I was thinking of the Hedmans, they recently switched to socket from flange.

i would prefer flange over ball/socket any day

The math isn't quite right. You need to figure the flow area of each pipe, and don't forget that the pipe dimesions are OD, not ID.

2460's are thicker wall tubing than the 2055's, both with 1-5/8" primaries, so the 2460's actually have less flow area in the primaries than the 2055. The 2460 y-pipe is intended to replace the LO3 y-pipe & cat, so it has a 2-1/2" pipe after the two sides join. In order to "fix" that, you have to cut it off at the actual "Y" and replace everything down-stream - about half of what you paid Hooker for. If, on the other hand, you have a y-pipe fabricated with 2-1/2"->3" (assuming no sweetheart deals), you'll spend as much or more for the 2460's and the fabricated pipe as you would if you just bought the 2055's in the first place, which have arguably the best 3" y-pipe out there.

So, that's why I said what I did. Not that the 2055's are perfect out of the box, I haven't claimed that (a search should show you what I think 2055's need), but they are a better deal for the money.

IMHO. . .

Unless you're the type of guy that doesn't want a bunch of ***-ugly welds on the top of your header tubes where you had to weld up the AIR holes.

I swear nobody out there makes a decent header without air tubes.
