Exhaust manifold heatshields
I swaping in some headers on my car but i cant get the drivers side heat sheild off. Is there bolts on it or something? I got the first two bolts off of the manifold but cant see the others, im assuming they are under the heatshield. Kinda need a quick response on this one, thanks

Just pulled the manifolds on my LG4 last night and i didnt have to pull the shield to get the bolts off, just a deep 9/16 socket!

When I unbolted them to take the heat shield off I just jammed my hand in there. A few cuts but I still got em off. Just get a pair of mechanics glvoes and push...

Hmmm i had no problem at all getting my ratchet in there and on them, a couple of them it did take a 2' bar on the end of the ratchet to break them loose though...
My drivers side came out without a hitch. The passenger side is a whole new ball game. I got all the bolts out except the 2nd last one where the heat shield wrapped itself around the entire head of the bolt. Don't ask how. Took 2 days to get it out with a hammer, tin snips, a really big screw driver, beer and lots of blood shed. Got it off though thats the main thing. Good luck to you, lol!

heat shields? I think mine had that goofy tin plate over them, with the air tubes, but it wasn't in the way...
are you talking about those goofy scotch locks? The little piece of tin that's bent to hold the bolt from loosening? yea, that's a PITA. I used a screwdriver to bend them out of the way. Lots of finesse on the rear drivers side ones.

I got the locking tabs bent back pretty easlly. I used a 9/16" offset wrench for the last on on the passenger side. The second to the last on is stripped so tomorrow Im gonna check oout some tools to take it off.
The heatshield that was curved about the spark plug on the passenger side was getting into my way. I couldnt get the socket all the way on the bolt bc of it
