Clearance issues with oil pan and y-pipe.....HELP

Here is my problem.. I have a 92 camaro RS doing swap to 355ci with Hooker Competition Shorty Headers with the offroad hooker y-pipe that are made for the header according to Jegs.. The oil pan I originally wanted to run was the 7qt. Moroso but didnt work with y-pipe so I went to the "82-92 camaro/firebird" 6qt. oil pan and tried that out today and this didnt work either!!! I have the block on the engine stand and the y-pipe still does not fit although it is much closer. All I need is about half inch and it will bolt up. I am confused, is the Moroso 6qt pan specifically made for the 3rd gen camaro not fit because I am not using the stock y-pipe??? Is there a way around this because I dont want to run a stock oil pan unless I have too I will be pushing close to 450hp with my new build and figured I would want the extra oil and high volume pump with the windage tray to keep the oil temp down and have good results and lubrication at higher rpms... what do you all think? I am really confused and if I have to take back the pan I got today that just bearly fits I will have to go to the stock 5qt pan and then spend another 70-80 bucks on a high volume pump and pickup because mine is too big now!!

You could go with LT's or have an exhaust shop fab up a y pipe that is routed like the LS1 Camaros.
Good luck,
Mike

WOULD this work?

I got this moroso pan 7qt deep sump and its kicked out to allow the extra oil capacity without sacrificing ground clearance... what if I was to notch out the back side of that pan and have it welded back to give space for the y-pipe?? I know a pretty good welder and this could be possible what do you all think? I know it will drop me back to around 6qt or so but I will be able to use everything as is without having to buy another pickup for the stock pan I would have to run. This would allow the hooker y-pipe to swing around the pan like it would on the stock pan but I would still have the benefits of the pan.

Here is a picture of what I would have to do. If there is any draw backs to this modification PLEASE relpy to this post and fill me in. Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't cut that pan.....just run your y-pipe behind the motor and under the tranny cross member and join the two pipes up on the passenger side.Look at a y pipe from an LS1 Camaro and you will see what I am talking about.

here we go.

Hey Mike thanks for your ideas I understand where you are going with doing a little search on the internet about this topic. I did however come across a solution tonight and it is working out perfect. Here is the exaust almost done we added a spacer from another 2.5" pipe and still have one more small spot to do tomorrow after i buy another exhaust pipe to fit. Let me know what you think it retains the stock geometry and still clears the cross member and isnt kissing the oil pan.. This isnt the block its just a donor to help for fabrications. Oh yeah and you can see Im running the moroso made for the 82-92 camaro instead of that big 7qt thats in the previous picture. This one is a 6qt deep sump and i got the windage tray, crank scraper and baffel to keep the oil in the right spots for the pickup.
