mocking up own exhuast

does anyone know huw much piping costs at say advanced auto or a similar shop? its too late for me to call my local shop and find out.

my original exhuast is all rusted oout and has holes. So i am planning on making my own streight pipes, and if that sounds bad, adding a glasspack. nothin fancy

i think fromt he cat back, its ahrd to tell. My dad was the one looking. It may be all of it from the y-pipe. But it seems to be only after the cat becasue you can hear it around the doors.

maybe you should just disconnect everything after the cat and see how that sounds to you. i don't really have any idea what exhaust pipe costs though

unless you have a hole in your floor you shouldn't have any real probelms with exhaust in the passenger compartment, but if you're worried you could just run a dump out the passenger side pretty easily.

A new catback system is at least a couple hundred dollars. A muffler shop might bend you the piece you need for less. Doing it yourself and welding bends together is cheaper yet. Or just find another thirdgen from the junkyard and rip the exhaust off.

I tried the method of ending the exhaust after the cat and the noise/smell got old after a while.

yeah, im not worried about getting exhuast in the cockpit for health reasons, i just dont want to smell it. im gonna make the exhuast myself, i was just wondering how much piping costs. im gonna run streight pipes, and if that sou8nds bad, put a glasspack on it.

Would it be bad for the engine to remove the exhaust from the before the cat all the way back so all you have it headers and a Y pipe? It sounds awsome but i dont want to screw up my engine.

I bought a piece of 3" x 10' tubing from an exhaust shop for $20. Summit sells individual J-bends for ~$20. I found them cheaper on eBay.

No, but you will have the exhaust smell rolling up through your windows if they are ever open.
