They will make any size header you want. They hang the same if not slightly higher.

How did the exhaust system end up? Do you happen to have any finished exhaust system photos? I found your thread doing research on exactly what you started.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't have finished pictures. But just to let you know my exhaust has no bends at all. It runs straight back from the headers to a pair of Borla XR-1's with no clearence issues at all. I did modify the rear seat tray a small bit.

Thanks for the info, that sounds awesome. Does it dump before or after the axle? did you fit a H pipe in as well?

Dumps before the axle no h-pipe. The pics I took this morning suck so I didn't post them. But if you go through the thread you can get the idea as I posted some progress pics. We all know the biggest area of concern is the transmission crossmember area and you can see how I fixed that with the double hump x-member. The oval tubing also saves a lot of ground clearance. If I would have chosen oval inlet mufflers. I could have saved more room

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
The progress pics do help a bunch
Based on your experience is there enough room to do the dual exhaust with a custom one off tranny cross member without moving the subframe members? I am guessing no as you moved yours
I am trying to come up with an idea where I don't have to cut them, I will if I have to but I really don't want to.
Thanks again for all the input and pics.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
IMO to get a true dual exhaust sytem you need to be creative. Many people have done different things. I was trying to be cost effective, weight concious and keep the exhaust turns down to a minimum. If you can weld with a wire feed than this would be no problem for you. I wouldn't recomend this for a daily driver because of the sound. But for a high horsepower street car this is a nice setup. I just need to get the pipes ceramic coated now.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
I agree the creativity is the key. My areas of focus are similiar to yours: exhaust flow, ground clearence, cost effective, light weight. Quality headers and the oval exhaust pipe sure seem to the key. Thanks again for the help. I need to go spend some time under my car now doing some mock ups

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
Will a medium length oil filter (about 7" long) fit with these headers in the stock location off the block?
Thanks
Thanks

Bump.
I would like to see more of these headers if anyone has them.

I got the solid motor mounts in the car.
I got the drivers side header in the car no problem.
The passenger header is being difficult to get in.
Did you put the header in from the top or from the bottom?
I got 1 7/8 primaries

The passenger header goes in from the top.
I had to remove my A/C evap box. (I will be going with an A/C delete box anyway)
Now I am having problems with the headers hitting my summit mini starter.

Bump....
How do you like them LB9?? Do they fit well? I want a set for mine...my hookers are holding me back 13hp from 1 7/8" terrible dyno headers...took me from 604 to 591 hp.
For $650 i may call ed...putting on an air pump as well.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
I really like them.
As said before, you need solid mounts, cut the ears off the trans and corners off of the a-arms and move some fuel/brake lines.
With a th350, the shifter linkage is really close to the collector.
The plug clearance is good too, but I have straight plugs.

There is no direct fit exhaust system for these headers.

I take it these headers are still available? I have a t10 in my car anybody think that will be a major issue for fitment? I have about a month to make a decision on what headers to use.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
I got a custom exhaust system made. I had to cut the frame rail to make it fit.
Yes, these are still available. I would call Ed Quay directly and ask the question about fitment.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
I know, Old thread.
Looks reeeal nice. I needed these years ago. .
I have had the jet-hot hookers on for many years (may sell now), I cut the stupid 3 bolt flange off, installed a 02 bung on dr side and use a slip on pipe with a 3'wide stainless clamp. No leaks there or with my slip on tube.
I also use fel-pro 140? gaskets with 1" bolts and anti-sieze. Never leaked there or lost a bolt. Street car that does see some track time.

Re: Ed Quay 1 7/8 for stock chassis cars
Just to add my bit,l got 1 7/8" from Ed Quay and as always a bit of fiddling. I got A/C delete, stock cross member, mini starter, remote oil filter and cut ears off my th400. Cut flange passenger side to get in and moved a few lines but still only took a day to fit. Slip on Collectors welded straight on to exhaust which exits behind doors/in front of rear tires help with ground clearance on my low car.
