areo chamber.......... is quiet
I have a 88 L98 TA, it has no car but stock exhaust other than that ran back to a hooker areo chamber with dual tips. It is just not very loud at all. I am wondering if headers a a new y pipe would help much? Or would i be better off getting another muffler?

Your Aerochamber is quiet? I'll trade you for my Flowmaster - I'm getting tired of it's loudness.

I had the 3 1/2" Aerochamber on my car and I thought it was on the loud side of things. Then Magnaflow came out with their 3 1/2" straight through design and I installed it. It turned out to be much quieter than the Aerochamber. Very nice when driving around town and barks when you nail it to the floor.

My old Firebird had hedman long tubes, no cat, and the aerochamber catback (Magnaflow tips) and sounded badass. wasn't quite, but wasnt like annoyingly loud, was perfect. which is why i'm buying the exhaust system back from the kid i sold it to to put on my new Formula 350!

I have a Hooker cat back-Aerochamber muffler (3 inch inlet, dual 2 1/2 ich outlets) with Magnaflow cat and ceramic Hooker 2055's. Was a bit quiet at first, but now a nice low tone rumble. Louder and aggressive at WOT. There are other muffler systems out there with less back pressure. After hours of research looking for the correct tuned exhaust system for my 89 IROC, this seemed to be the right combo.

I have (well had) Hooker 2055's no cat and a hooker catback exhaust and it was nice. Not to loud at idle but when you got on it you new it was there. Now it is really quite compared to my open headers.
wannafbody got you a car huh? I work at chili's there in jackson you might see my rusty GTA up there sometimes. Where'd you get the car what color and what kind of shape is it in. If you need some help with something let me know. I have been through it all with my car and would be willing to help you out sometime.

i like the sound of open exhaust but it gets old i think people who want that should keep a stock exhaust and just get a electric cutout for track and fun and closed when the cops are around

You will love the aero chamber, i cant stand the sound of crapmasters (plus ive heard numerous stories on how they flow like crap). Im throwing about 450hp at my exhaust and it sounds beefy as hell idle and when your WOT its ridiculous. After i get my tranny swapped and car painted, ill be posting vids so you can hear what the aero sounds like, hopefully in a few months. I guess i could get a clip with just the engine running and no tranny :P
