well i guess the most "correct" way would be to spend $$ on a delete pully that goes in place of the smog pump. that said i do not have one on my car.
yank it off and disconnect all the lines that go to it. plug them all or you will have issues. if you have the time remove all the AIR tubes and plug the holes in your manifolds, it's amazing how prety your engine bay can be.
then go to the auto parts store and get a new belt (yours is now too big). unfortunatly my belt has no markings on it so i don'tknow whta size it is, but i think it is only an inch or two smaller then stock. you will have to experiment. if your Fbody is your only car you can do what i did when i pulled the AIR pump on my 2.8, pull the pulley off the pump (easy) in the parking lot of the napa and then you can try on belts to your hearts content, when you find one that fits buy it, drive home and remove the rest of the pump at your leisure.
oh and NO it should not mess with your tune.

Three problems. One, if your state does visual emissions testing, you will fail without a smog pump. Two, disabling or removing your emissions devices is a federal offense, punishable by a fine and/or jailtime, regardless of your state's emissions testing laws. Three, without the air pump and its air lines, your catalytic converter is more likely to clog and fail, costing you horsepower.

ok.... how about all the junk that sits above the left (pass side) head, looks electronic, but smog related....
and Kevin91z:
1- no emmisions where i am.....
2- is not a Federal offence and no way punishable by jail time
3- who with these cars still have a cat??

As long as your state does not do visual inspections you are fine. I took my pump off and passed with flying colors, and no removing the AIR pump will not cause the cat to clog fast it MIGHT make it clog a tiny bit faster but not that much. Mine has been off for over a year and the CAT is still going strong.

I have allways taken all the emissions equipment off all my cars and they still passed the dyno test with no problems(before i removed the cat).

I'll even quote it for you:
The federal tampering prohibition is contained in section 203(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act (Act), 42
U.S.C. 7522(a)(3). Section 203(a)(3)(A) of the Act prohibits any person from removing or rendering
inoperative any emission control device or element of design installed on or in a motor vehicle or motor
vehicle engine prior to its sale and delivery to an ultimate purchaser and prohibits any person from
knowingly removing or rendering inoperative any such device or element of design after such sale and
delivery, and the causing thereof. The maximum civil penalty for a violation of this section by a
manufacturer or dealer is $25,000; for any other person, $2,500.

3 - Those of us who care about clean air for ourselves and the future still run a cat. My car makes 400 horsepower and passes CA smog cleaner than stock. When your car does that, come tell me.
Anything else about what's legal and not legal about emissions you want to debate with me?

Whats the point? Youre not going to gain anything. Until you build a real motor for that car, its pointless. Just seems kinda "hillbilly" to me.
