Well, I just got my Catback system on...The main pipe hangs low, it is too damn loud, and im not happy....My own fault....We had to pull the cat off for the time being, untill I put the TES on...As soon as I started driving my check Engine light came on, and the car seems to be down on power.....Any ideas what might have happened????? Could it be the fuel mixture being wrong now??? The O2 sesnsor was not messed with...I will try to run the lights tomorrow, and see what code I get...Has anyone else had this problem???????? Thanks for any insight into this problem...Needless to say, I am a little disappointed by this, I was thinking it would have more power...Tom

Yup. Check the trouble codes, but you changed one of the parameters that was assumed by the speed density system, exhaust flow.Originally Posted by Gallileo60

five7kid,
Well the code I am getting is a 32......Lost alot of bottom end also....Damn the luck What can I do about the changed parameter????
Is there anyway to regain some of my lost low RPM power?? Thanks, Tom

I believe in your case, Code 32 would be EGR valve. Double check by asking this on the TBI forum, but I believe you need to get a negative type EGR valve (the stock valve is positive type, that needs a little backpressure in order to open up - a stupid design). And I may have the two types of valves backwards. But, most of the aftermarket replacement EGR valves are of the "right" type.
You'll probably also have to do some PROM tuning to regain proper power and function. Again, TBI forum. Common problem.

just to let you know my edelbrock is falling apart lol, I'll never put on a edelbrock exhaust on any car (well actually I never had both of my camaros I bought already had it installed) and both of them fell apart since I've sold my RS the muffler broke off, and then the I-ipe just rusted in half!! on my IROC the pipe into the muffler is roataing now causing the exhaust to bang up against the bottom of my car, and cant be fixed unless I throw some tackwelds on it which right now its way to cold outside for that. As for the performance problems thats kind of strange, it's probaly cause of not having a cat would bemy guees

Well, thanks both of you...I will look into the EGR valve...Makes sense...As far as this new system falling apart, I cant see that, it is built like a tank...The new ones are alot different than the old ones...I dont really like the way it sounds tho, to loud for me, but I guess I will get used to it....I cant hear my intake noise now........

Uh, whatever the new one is with the SDT Muffler....It is loud, but there is no cat...I am a little more used to it now...It does not drone like my other thirdgen with the 350, and the Flowmaster....Not as deep as that either, but 50 cubic inches less too....This new system is built better than the older RPM setup......Will try to get some pics posted....Tom
