Hedman LT 68460 + True Duals + Sportline Springs
i plan on installing hedman 68460 headers with s-bends, summit 2.5" h-pipe and a couple of Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers all dumped before the rear axle. Now i have seen this setup on a few cars and know that ground clearance wont be the best for the exhaust but the headers seem to sit flush with the transmission. My relocation brackets are the lowest part of the vehicle as of right now i think. the only questions i have are what can i do with the transmission cooling lines? As you can see from the picture below of my car they look like they will be in the way where the s-bends would go. I have been on summit looking at stainless steel hoses and not sure which to get. i have a 700r4 and am confused between -4 AN, -6 AN, -8 AN, -10 AN, -12AN and what fittings i will need to go into the transmission. Also 15 feet is enough right?

Can't help a lot with your questions, except AN sizes represent 16ths of an inch - i.e., -4AN = 1/4", -6AN = 3/8", etc.
Was curious about your relocation brackets. I just received mine, and see the instructions say to install them with the axle in the car. Is that the way you did it? I've got a loose axle I'm planning on prepping to install, and was hoping to weld on the brackets before I put the axle in the car. Not sure how critical the aligning they discuss in the instructions are, or if measuring in some fashion would be acceptable.

The fittings on a 700R4 are 5/16" SAE I believe. I know for a fact its 5/16" since I just went through this ordeal. I used flexible transmission line to go to an aftermarket cooler and back- I used about 11-12' of line.

5/16" thanks alot, im driving to florida this weekend on the way was going to stop in and take a look at summit and grab a few things, flexible hoses and fittings, along with the new exhaust setup.
with the hose size mentioned, what size normally goes on a 700r4? i seen some summit stainless steel flexible hoses -6AN which is 3/8". i have an aftermarket b&m transmission cooler as well. the steel lines dont line up and want to remove them after installing long tubes since they look like they will be in the way.

Those aren't the right fittings, I'm 99.9% sure this is what I used on my 700R4:

The transmission are both female, so you need 2 males.
I also recommend a B&M cooler, I have one and I'm very please with the quality and look of it.

FBM and FCM are the same. B is for a bulk part, and C is for a part carded for retail display.
1/2-20 is the thread size of the tube nut that's used with a 5/16 inverted flare.
BTW the same fittings are on the transmission end as well.

Your B&M cooler probably has pipe threads in it, so you'll want NPT (I'm guessing 3/8 or 1/4) to -6 adapters for it.

Re: Hedman LT 68460 + True Duals + Sportline Springs
what a pain in the *** to install the hedman long tubes. jacked up the car, removed spark plug wires, spark plugs, and oil filter, then jacked the engine up a couple of inches. the driver side went in with minutes from the bottom. the passenger side however, i could get the car high enough up in the air to get it in from underneath so i had to get it on a hoist. will be welding the s-bends, h-pipe, and moroso spiral mufflers on tomorrow.

Re: Hedman LT 68460 + True Duals + Sportline Springs
i just did the same thing for my true duals...
i had already installed headman long tubes and had a true dual over tranny crossmember with turn downs but i was installing sportlines and i needed more ground clearance, so i purchased headman 3" header extenions aka sbends and then bought summits 3" xpipe universal kit and some new 3" force mufflers, i had the same issue with the trans but i notched the stock subframes tucked the sbends agains the floor so it lookedflush and then connected it to the xpipe and ran it to the mufflers, i have alot more ground clerance by the trans nothing in the front sits lower than my deep trans pan, lowest part on mine is the 4 1/4" force mufflers, but the Xpipe makes the sound soooo much better and helped lower the noise alil, but above 3000rpms u can feel the xpipe kick in so weird. good luck weldin and post some pics, ur gona love the sound

Here are some pics of my exhaust with the Hedman S bends coming off my hooker long tubes, and the 3" piping into spiral flow mufflers. My car is actually lowered in the front 2 inches, and I only scrape every now and then. They actually tuck away pretty well if follow the drive shaft tunnel.

Re: Hedman LT 68460 + True Duals + Sportline Springs
same here headman longtubes, headman Sbends 3", 3" xpipe and 3" force mufflers.
1st pic is it all welded and fitted ready to go in, i had to reduce all the pics bc they were too large.
2nd does do it justice my driveway is sunken in by the tires and i have a hump in the middle of my driveway, on a normal road there is alot more clearance
3rd is the pic where i notched the stock subframes so i could tuck it all up, the black shinny paint is POR15 that i replainte my thru floor subframes, u can see the chrome deep trans pan and how no part of it sits lower than that.
my lowest part is the muffler if i where to get rid of that and get spirals perhaps or no muffler at all i could gain over 1.5" in the rear part, i hardly ever drag only on really large dips in the road that i could never go over and or large speedbumps. car is also lowered over 2" in the front and 2" in the rear with sportlines.

nice pics guys, thanks for the looks. custom your exhaust hangs LOW, pretty much like mine does, i just got it fi nished a couple hours ago and its about 1 1/2" off the ground, it scraps a few times but as long as i go slow it wont. it sounds WAY better then the flowmaster in my opinion.
ill post a video when its done optimizing.

yea i have like 2 " clearance at the muffler which sux but i dont scrape it ever really even over speed bumps, its bc i used 4 1/4 thick box mufflers i dont like the sound of the spiral flow or the glasspacks. up at the front i have max clearnace and thats all i really care about tho lol

Re: Hedman LT 68460 + True Duals + Sportline Springs
When i made up my cooler lines for my other camaro i used some -5 ORB to -6 JIC adapters (202702-5-6) and made up my hoses with female JIC ends.
The ORB has the same thread pitch as tube nuts but has the o-ring at the top of the threads. But it worked flawless!
As for the exhaust, they are really funny. My h-pipe sits very low, yet i always end up dragging my tips which are the highest part!
