Re: copper header gaskets
yes i used them when i installed my headers . i think they are pretty good . do not use paper gaskets , they will blow after a few miles . remember when you install headers , torque from the center out , just like engine heads . then go over and retorque . i used blue locktite on mine and no problems , rechecked torqued today , still good . works for me . you get what you pay for . hope this helps . Re: copper header gaskets
They now have a far superior header gasket to the copper's. They are made by mr gasket and are made out of aluminum. They are a nice thick multilayered gasket which flares in at each port and also wraps around the outside of each port. They are really nice i just put them on my camaro and no leaks at all. I went through 2 sets of gaskets both the regular mr gasket and the ultra seal and they both leaked brand new. Also i have had 2 cars with copper ones and if your header flange is not perfectly straight they will leak since the copper is a thin gasket. The aluminum ones are over twice the thickness of the copper or a paper gasket.

Re: copper header gaskets
I bought a set for my car and they leaked all over the set. i have afr aluminum cyl heads and was afraid to crank on the header bolts any more than i was. So the gaskets have been a wall decoration for the last two years. i bought a set made by mr gasket that was like ten bucks a pr and thee great. plus if one blows out for ten bucks ill get another set and have and extra.

Percys Dead-Soft Aluminum Header gaskets
Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts
look both of those up at Summit/Jegs. I have not had a leak or loose header bolt in 3 years. Best $60 I spent!

Re: copper header gaskets
Copper works as good if not better then any paper gasket. The key to having a copper gasket to seal up is to make sure it has been annealed first. Personally I do not use Mr Gasket ones but SCE is my choice.
I have not used the aluminum ones but I hear that they work really well. I have had copper gaskets on many cars over the years and never had a gasket fail due to "blowing out". Usually the bolt will loosen up and cause a leak.
If your really worried about a leak. You can always anneal the gasketand use a small ammount of high temp sealer on the header flange side to take up any imperfections. Usually I would check and resurface any header I am going to install. that way you know that the header is flat and not going to leak.
They are worth the money. In my opinion.

Re: copper header gaskets
Personally i have a set of these on my car now, and it is the 5th time to re use them without any leaks or problems, they are on their 4th motor, it is a funny thing, if i ever had a set leak, it was on a set of flow-tech junk headers that were warped flanges and so i put a paper gasket on each side of it and it worked fine now for 3 years and still kikkin...
