Newer Flowmasters...

I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on the Flowmaster Super 44. I have an '82 Trans Am which has a mildly worked 350 and I'm considering the Super 44's because I'm bored with just having the stock mufflers cut off. I'd like to have a nice sound with maybe a bit of a performance increase. Thanks.

Well, i have no muffler on my 95 Z28 and i love it, stay away from the 80 series if you use a flow, i only have one cause it was lying around, the 40 series are verry loud and agressive, the Outlaw flowmaster is a step down from straight pipe, only 80$ last i checked.

a friend of mine who is a flowmaster dealer says the only diff beetween a 40 and a super44 is the center chamber on all super44's is 3 inch. propably even more deafening than 40's.

I was under the impression the 40 series and the 80 series were basically the same. The only difference is the 80 is plumbed for the single CAT set-up and dual outlets. At least that's what I was told by Flowmaster before I ordered my American Thunder CAT back system.

Those 80 series are like you said, configured different, but it gives it a totally different sound, listen to a 3rd gen with 80 and listen to a silverado with a 40 series dual out. They sound completly different. I think the 80 has a better tone imo.

Yeah I just bought a flowmaster 80 series 3" catback for my 89 rs 305 with single magnaflow cat and I really like the tone its really deep. IMO it could be a little louder when idling but overall im satisfied

Re: Newer Flowmasters...

i have an 80's as well, i like it better than the other flowmasters because it isnt deafening and it doesnt sound hollow, ive never heard another exhaust sound like it. i have a buddy with an 87 with a whole new exhaust from headers back (same guy who sold me my exhaust for 10 bucks) and it has dual 40's and its loud and hollow, sounds like a tin can.

Yep, the 40 series is the inline version of the (transverse) 80 series... you can get an 80 series in single inlet/dual outlet or dual inlet/dual outlet configurations. But two 40's is always going to be louder. Personally I find the 80 series to be an excellent compromise between tone and volume.
