another cat thread
I am running a cat-back exhaust on my 305tbi and i was wondering if I should gut out my cat or just get rid of it all together and put in a test pipe ? whats the horsepower gain..... if any at all. also how much louder will it make my exhuast? thanks !

Re: another cat thread
It will be louder with either, you'll get less popping from a test pipe than a gutted cat. Is that legal in NH though? However, the power loss from a new high flow cat vs a test pipe is going to be negligeable...

Cats are very restrictive, you'll free up alot of power no matter what you do to it. Im not sure what a test pipe is, but you alos may want to investigate how your car will act with less back pressure. A freind of mine has a F-150 i beleive its EFI not TBI but hes running into probelms because his O2 sensor is no longer reading within a range of a present cat since he now has straight exhuast.
Have you looked into one of those aftermarket high flow cats?
