edelbrock airtube headers?

i have a 91 camaro. I put a 350 from an 87 GTA. I have a 91 SD wiring harnesss + cpu in it... if the price is right i may be buying edelbrock airtube headers from a 1992 firebird... will they fit on the 87 motor? and what will i have to change for my exhaust to make them work? do i have to get rid of the 02 sensor also? and are they a decent set of headers? better than stock manifolds im assuming. thanks for your help yes im a newb but am doing all the work myself so im learning fast. i appreciate your help!

Thats about it right there. You'll be leaving a bit of power on the table using them over say SLP or Hooker shorties.

Re: edelbrock airtube headers?

what do you mean leaving a bit of power on the table using them over slp or hooker? will my stock y-pipe work with them? whats the big deal about the air tubes? i see that some people weld em shut? why is that.. here are pics of the Edlebrock TES headers with A.I.R pipes. How much do you think they are worth?
thanks!!

Re: edelbrock airtube headers?

Well take a look at the air tubes for example, Ill bet some of them are sticking out into the exhaust flow path inside the primary tube. (mine were) So lets move on down to the collector where all 4 primary tubes are pinched together to get into the 2" opening. Then look at the Y-pipe, you have 2 2 1/4 (cant remember if its 2 1/4 pipes or 2 1/2) pinched at the Y junction to get stuffed into a 3" pipe to get down sized to go into the 2 1/4 stock cat opening. (I think the TPI versions Y-pipes are a little better)

Will they give you better HP and MPG over your stock exhaust manifolds? Absoloutly! But, you are leaving HP on the table for all the reasons I mentiond above.

I now have a set of SLP 1 3/4 shory headers, the primary tubes are not pinched to merge into the collector and the collector opening is 2 1/2 inches. The Y-pipe is a 2 1/2 in pipe and the Y junction is NOT pinched down to fit into a 3" pipe. Same goes for the Hookers as well. Its not a big deal if your not planning on making some bigger HP #'s. But as we all know too well, plans change often.
