long tube w/ A.I.R.?
I tried searching around for this but the search ain't working for me. Does anyone know of any long tube headers that are fifty-state legal? Has anyone ever welded A.I.R. tubes on to their LT's? Is it possible to do?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
I don't know of any available long tubes with the A.I.R. tubes already installed. If you're handy with a MIG welder, then of course it's possible.

I was looking into the same thing before deciding I will be going with Dyno Don shorties and dual cats. You can purchase Hedman Air tubes and weld in an O2 bung and should be good.

If you home-fab A.I.R. tubes on your long tubes, technically they still aren't legal, since the manufacturer never paid the government big bucks to get them smog certified.

True, but how many "inspectors" know exactly which headers are "legal" when it comes to the AIR tubes?

Re: long tube w/ A.I.R.?
Thanks guys, and thanks lthrneck for that link. The main thing I'm worried about is passing emissions. I was talking to my friend and he's got a guy he pays off to pass him, so it's not a huge deal if i can't legally pass. It would just be nice. Is there an efficiency benefit to having the AIR on the headers? Will I get worse gas mileage w/o them? Does it noticeably effect performance? I'm not going to be building a monster here.
