dual cats with headers

Do I have to have a special set of headers if I have dual cats? I have seen headers made for dual cats but I wanted to if I can use any headers that fit my motor.

Not without modifying something, either the y-pipe that comes with the headers, or your existing y-pipes to connect to the headers.

Re: dual cats with headers

No you don't need special headers.

I assume you are going to run shorties? If so then just get ones that say they are for your dual cat car. You will save some $ at the exhaust shop later cuz the extra pipes that come down from the collectors will mate up with your cats and so on. Just get under your car and see what you got going on, then get pics of the parts that you want and check if they look OK, or if there will need to be custom work done.

Thats all you can really do, or I can really say without any specifics given appart from there being 2 cats

Hooker 2138's allow for factory routing

Itd be easy to fab a dual Y-pipe for dual cats although I really dont see why you would want to

Re: dual cats with headers

No, he has dual cats now. From the factory. I used to too, back when I ran cats.

If you wanna go custom and have dual cats, you can get a dual inlet single or dual out muffler and just run 2 pipes all the way back instead of having that Y after the cats. But if you wanna save $, then just get a some hookers or edelbrock headers that say MADE FOR DUAL CAT CARS. And you will be all set.

But only 1-1/2" primaries. Kind of defeats the whole purpose, especially with a 350.

Re: dual cats with headers

The headers are all the same for single-cat and dual-cat cars. Its the y-pipe they come with that is different.

Re: dual cats with headers

I was prettty happy with my edelcraps back in the day. I wouldn't buy them if you plan on doing more mods, but on a basically stock car, they fit great and look good.

If you are gonna do more stuff down the road, go with hookers or something.

But I don't know all that much about shorties. I am running long tube 2210's
