MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

Quick question I just installed a aftermarket exhaust system for my IROC.
And I'm getting less than 2" of ground clearence. I think I get it up to 3" but no more.
What is the min. that you guys would allow?

Re: MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

obviously something is wrong with the routing, even my true duals have 4-5" of ground clearance.

Also hop onto the chicago regional board and say hello and join one of our BBQs or cruises, etc

You fail to mention what you're running, so knowing if there's a possible fix is difficult. If you only have 2" of clearance, expect to drag/destroy something fairly quickly.

Re: MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

Shorties give decent ground clearance.
LT's are a totally different animal though.

Which do you have?

I have 2.25" of ground clearance. I just stay away from speed bumps and so far i've been fine.

Re: MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

I have long tube hookers, and I bought the y-pipe setup from hawkthirdgen.
I think They may have sent me the wrong exhaust. I emailed there tech guy today with some pics. I also browsed their website and I found a y-pipe that looks like the one they sent me which there saying is for a LS1 camaro around 98' or so.
My IROC is a L98 TPI with a 700R4 (see my cars profile)

xpndbl3; once I get my camaro running well I would consider local cruises, thanks for the invite!

Re: MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

The general rule of thumb to be completely safe (over most road bumps, etc) is the Dr. Pepper can test. Why Dr. Pepper? I don't know but I hear about it all the time. Basically if you can fit a soda can under the exhaust pipe, you are in the clear.

Re: MIN. EXHAUST CLEARENCE.

Thanks for the information guys. I know I'm not going to get Dr. Pepper clearence but I can get more than I have. My driveshaft loop can be modifed to not hang so much. I can probley get another 1"-2". I was told I only need about 1" clearence with my loop. Right now I have about 2-3" of clearence.
Thanks again for your help everyone.
