Re: low cost borla exhaust

why on earth would you want a borla exhaust system?? if you put the disk with the big hole in there, you basically just spent $859 on an intermediate pipe and tail pipe.. you could run straight headers for cheaper..

but all kidding aside, you would be better off with a true dual or something.. borla is just a name brand that costs alot..

Re: low cost borla exhaust

its a legal straight pipe, made of t304 stainless steel, it will outlast youre car.
and it sounds dahm good! and if youre keeping it under 450hp true dual isnt really necassary. this is why i bought mine.

Re: low cost borla exhaust

do a search for true dual pics.. theres TONS of people with them.. myself including.. i ran a 2.5" true dual (the same exhaust i'm running today) with my first motor barely making 385hp at the flywheel.. the exhaust was perfect for that motor.. loads of torque, decent topend, great drivability..

Well I am going to say go with a Borla or some other type of cat back if your motor is producing under 450 hrspower. I went with slp shorties and Borla Cat back and they are the finest neatest looking exhaust I have seen. I have had my car 18 yrs .I have had duals on before in my younger years. They were a pain in the a** and the pipes over the rear were bent and crushed out of shape that I know they were not flowing very good. Clearance at the conectors to get it to look nice is not very good. These days we have bigger speed bumps then how high my car is off the ground.People say drop them before the rear , well up here it isn't worth trying that . The first road block you hit and they look under you will be impounded and your car will not be able to be on the road until you have shown it has been changed. All I am trying to say is spend your money wisely , People say this costs to much , well trying to fab up a system and not liking it and doing it again in 2 yrs must cost a little too. Find a system that looks good and flows decent and appreciate what you have. Also watch jegs in the winter months you will get a system for around 600 and my system will outlast me it is all stainless from front to back

go to somewhere like ls1tech.com and find a used one. I got mine for $400 shipped and it was in mint condition.

Re: low cost borla exhaust

I bought mine off ebay for $275. I have 1 3/4 SLP shorties and a 3" Y pipe yet to be installed. I just bought an electric cutout from McCord so I can adjust the tone/flow at a moments notice.

I think I might be alone on this but I prefer the sound of the medium disk, but I understand what you're saying. The way most people set it up it becomes an overpriced cut out.
