Need help identifying this used cat back

I have puchased a stainless steel cat back for my Formula on Ebay. I am very inefficient when it comes to cutting/pasting and all that junk. Heck I'm not even sure how to put up a link. Enough of that......, I am trying to get 100% verification of what system it is. It is a TOTL setup. If you go to Ebay, click advanced search, and input 27019916134 in the box, it should take you there. There are a few pictures of it, and I'm hoping it can be 100% identified. Sorry for being a PITA and not knowing how to put up the link. If someone knows how, maybe they can put up the link for me. As always, Thank You.

I've seen something like it on a t/a before. Muffler looks like a flowmaster knockoff, maybe a heartthrob exhaust or pacesetter? Could be a one off from a muffler shop with a mandrel tubing bender.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Thats definately an exhaust shop special. Although, a nice one at that. Those conventional mufflers that have the inlet on one end, and the outlet(s) on the other end actually flow better than the crossflow mufflers these cars usually have. However, you have both tips on one side.

That looks like it could be a real flowmaster to me. I would check the muffler to see if it has a brand. The other possibility (very likely) is that the muffler is made by IMCO or the new Cherry Bomb (different names, same mufflers). I had a set of IMCO Pro series mufflers on my last car, and they were great mufflers. Similar to the 40 series flowmaster, and they were alot nicer constructed.

Either way, looks like a decent system for the price. I am sure you will be happy with the sound and performance. Good Luck!

..................
That ebay picture looks identical to the picture in the upper left in the magazine, clearly defined as "SLP".

What are you talking about? lol

Edit: Compare the same colored lines:

Notice on the red ones, the slight dips in both tips?
Same thing with both pictures. I can post an un-edited one if you want.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

I was worried for awhile that I may have won a muffler shop special after a few of the posts above. I feel much better now. It's an older older discontinued cat back. Nothing of it on the SLP site whatsoever though. Thanks for the help.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Why would you be worried? Either way wheather it was made in a muffler shop or at SLP, it would be that same system you saw in the picture and bid on! I would be more worried about not getting the one that was used in the picture.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Yep.. deffinatley SLP, a muffler shop would not put that hanger on it at all, they would use some standard flanges.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Got the exhaust system via Fedex yesterday, looks really nice. I'm just not really too impressed with the finish of the exhaust where it is going to exit the rear of the car. It's a very for lack of no better words, unfinished look. I did a search on here as to how to polish them. Seems as though the most popular route was using Neverdull. I went out and bought a can of it (it's the wooly stuff that looks like cotton candy). All I've got to say is F*ck that. I spent a good hour on about a 1" by 1/2" area on one of the two pipes. The finish on that area is looking decent, but I'm figuring 14 or 18 hours to do both tips so they look decent. I thought ****, I'll just buy some chrome or polished SS tips, then I thought, I can't do that, these have some curves in them near the tip. So I'm back to square one. There's a plating shop in town that I'm going to call tomorrow. If I can't get them to do anything, I'll just paint them with a high heat paint......probably back to the shiny gray they were when they were new.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

If you got a welder you could easily modify those tips to fit some nice chrome ones on there. Save you time and money on getting it plated.

HI, TOPRAD MAN HERE. AS AN EXHAUST SHOP OWNER AS WELL, I WOULD NEVER PUT CHROME TIPS ON ANYTHING. STAINLESS IS THE ONLY CHOICE FOR WHATEVER TIP YOU USE. CHROME WILL NOT GENERALLY HOLD UP WELL AT ALL AND BY THE WAY, THERE IS NO SPECIAL PROCESS FOR WELDING STAINLESS TO MILD STEEL, SIMPLY MIG WELD WITH REGULAR WIRE. GOOD LUCK, TOPRADMAN.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Actually it was great deal for $116. It's dicontinued so you are only going to find them on the second hand market. I had been looking for awhile, got pretty lucky on finding this one. I wasn't willing to put the time into using the Nevr-dull on the tips so I decided to use some extra fine sandpaper then use the Nevr-dull. It turned out really nice. Took about an hour to do both tips up far enough where they tuck under the car. I'm having the cat-back installed at a local muffler shop tomorrow. I'll post back tomorrow and let you guys know how it sounds.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Oh, and with the 2OTL setup, it gives you that nice sleeper look. And, if it was good enough for the 91 Firehawks with the Rodeck block backed by the ZF 6 speed it should be good enough for my TPI 5 speed car.

Re: Need help identifying this used cat back

Got the new catback put on today. It sounds really really good. It has a very distinct sound to it. I can't really say it sounds like anything else out there. Everyone around here runs Flowmasters on the 3rd gens. I just wannna be a little different, thats why this Formula has SLP and my IROC runs Spintechs.
