I always liked the FLowmaster 80 sound. I loved it when it was on my car!

It sounds good. As long as you like it, that's all that matters. I am pleased with my 80 series as well.

Sounds good to me. I wish we could get the sound the 5.0 mustangs get though (throaty, echoey sound).

Re: Vid of my exhaust
yea .. my 91 305 sounds just like brisk's with the flowmaster ..
but mine isnt as lopey ..
mine isnt a 80 series .. but its somesort of flowmaster .. was on the car when i bought it ..
when i built the motor (cam, heads, intake, headers, etc) .. the exhuast got ALOT louder (oh and took the cat out) ..
the flowmaster does "drone" / make a REALLY deep sound at low idle inside the car .. sounds nice outside ..
im looking to put a full 3" system on soon .. is there any way to find out which flowmaster i got b/c i'd like to get a new one, but the same type
(is there series #'s on them anywhere)
but mine isnt as lopey ..

I wouldn't wanna downgrade our cars to FORDS come on lol... If you want the stang sound you could always get one... Or, if you want a different sound in the cars we have, do a 4/7 cam swap... I heard those are pretty good

Re: Vid of my exhaust
I think this thread has answered my long standing question of what type of Flowmaster I have...the previous owner put it in and he doesn't remember what type... Sounds like my car has an 80 series Flowmaster... Check out my You Tube vids to confirm!

Re: Vid of my exhaust
[quote=BrOdBaNd;3631958]Well most of the time they have part numbers on the mufflers themselves... If your muffler is a single in single out, then it cannot be an 80 series... It is probably one of the 40 series, which can be anything, single in single out, single in dual out and so forth... If your looking at your car from the back, does the drivers side of the muffler have one pipe going out the drivers side rear, and the passengers side have one pipe coming from under the front of the car to the muffler, and on the same side have another pipe coming out of the muffler on the passenger side rear? Sounds confusing, but I was actually surprised it came out quite well lol...
yea .. i got the singe in .. dual out flowmaster .. but the lettering / stampings are on the top (so i cant read them without taking it off) and its all rusted to hell and back like someone did it a while ago (i guess thats why some call them rustmasters)
neways .. yea .. my inlet is passenger rear .. and both outlets are one on each side torwards the front of the car ..
so does that mean i have a 40 series .. if so thats what im going with when i get a 3" cat back system .. or i might go for the hooker .. havent decided yet ..

Re: Vid of my exhaust
Then yes you probably have 40 series... 80 series mufflers run parallel to the rear bumper from my experience.
----------
Just take a general pic of the muffler and I can probably tell you what you have
----------
Hey this may sound dumb but to stop the rust problem, before you put the muffler on you could always hit it with some heat resistant paint

I agree. I know this is a "Third Gen Camaro" site, but I like all kind of cars. With the right exhaust, Mustangs sound awesome.

Re: Vid of my exhaust
I really dont like the magnaflow sound. I like the pulsing booming rumble that these sbc's have, and the magnaflows seem to blur it all together. But then, I liked the way my flowmaster 80 sounded. Sounded perfect, honestly. Sounded just like every other sbc with a flowmaster 80 on it, but I liked it a lot.
I've got duals now, though. Completely different animal soundwise.

The best thing about Flo-Pro is they are cheap--and make a real "throaty" noise. I'm quite pleased with my catback, its been worth every penny of the $320 I spent in 2001.

Re: Vid of my exhaust
flo-pro makes a chambered muffler that is almost identical to the flowmaster 80 on the inside. Thats probably why they both sound good.

Re: Vid of my exhaust
damn .. $125
thats rediculous ..
hooker headers - $450
flowmster 3" - $315
hi flow cat - $100 (est.)
so atleast $800 for a exhuast system ..
how the heck did you get all that for $150
i guess i cant get a deal on EVERYTHING ..
got my 91 camaro convertible 5spd for $1500 w/ a new top and tires included .. cant tell me thats not a deal right there .. i really screwed over the guy i got it from .. hahah .. it ran fine untill i blew the head gaskets at 120,000 miles .. whipped it around too many corners and missed a shift once or twice (tach didnt work, and i was pinned up against the driver door .. hahah)
but i did put $3000 into the motor .. hauls some a** now ..
.. even though its just a 305 it puts up a fight .. if i keep this car i might throw turbo or two on for $hits and giggles later on when my bank balance recovers .. (im only 17)

Not 150... 125lol, Some guy had put this whole setup on an iroc, and right after he put the exhaust on, his car caught on fire from the dash board up. So the exhaust wasnt touched at all, and it was only a week old. I offered himi 125 and he took my offer for the entire exhaust.

Sounds pretty good for a flowmaster system. Here's mine with the Flo-Pro just like 87IROC up there.
