70's camaro headers how to

Hey guys got some headers from a buddy came off of a 75 camaro and new there 125 dollers. better than paying 300 lol. im ganna make a how to thread on how to make these fit really easy, they fit but the flange hits between the trans pan and the chassis. So what u have to do is get some 3 inch pipe and cut the flange off before the pipes come together on the header. and then weld the new pipe on the header but pointing down a bit to clear the opening and make another bend up, with the old flange that u cut off and weld that on and then there u go u have a long tubed header from a 70's camaro that fits on ur third gen. ill get pics of the progress soon as i get the headers on.

Re: 70's camaro headers how to

Interesting... Still, I got my hedmans for $100. Correct headers for these cars arent necessarily expensive at all. But none are a perfect fit either, so maybe you're onto something.

Re: 70's camaro headers how to

Yea, I have to agree on the ground clearance thing. It is why these cars don't have true duals very often...clearancing them. Anyway, I wouldn't go over any speed bumps, lane reflectors, larger insects on the road...

Besides, I am pretty sure that the single 4" exhaust that runs back to the muffler and out the (2) 2" to 2 1/2" pipes from the muffler is more than enough flow for most applications.

1" ground clearance. OMG dude just stop it. That is rediculous. They make bolt on headers for these cars for a reason.

Re: 70's camaro headers how to

What can i say without sounding harsh? I don't know really.

That is one ugly *** exhaust system.

Just doesn't seem like it was worth the effort at all for the outcome...

Re: 70's camaro headers how to

if you dont mind me asking where are these s10's located in k-ville? i didnt think you could find them that cheap with swapped v8s in them. that would probably be cheaper than the route i was planning on going which involved buying a truck (i havent been able to find one for under 2500 that was stock) then buying little things for my motor i.e. headers, oil pan, dizzy, etc etc since all i basically have is a long block.
