Cheap way around true duals or 4 inch pipe with 383

I am going to have 1 3/4 shorties with 3 inch cat back. If I put a cut out where the cat is suppose to be do you think I would have enough flow for my engine when i go racing. My specs are in my sig. All the other options seem to be way to much work or to expensive. Running a true dual will give me horrible ground clearance for the streets, and going to a 3.5 inch or 4 inch pipe will cost around 5 bills. So I was thinking I really only need all my power at the strip and not on the roads. Let me know what you guys think

3" mandrel bent exhaust with dynomax ultra-flow muffler with cutout for track will be fine.
