Best muffler with headers?

I currently have hedman shorty headers on my 86 305 tpi. Since it's a project car, I just threw some cheap $100 knock off of Flowmaster called, "FlowPro". It sounds generic, as expected. My brother has borla catback and it sounds very nice. What's everyone else use preferably with headers and how good does it sound?

Re: Best muffler with headers?

I have a flowmaster 80 series with hedman shorties and I like it. It does get a little too loud inside the car sometimes, but you get used to it for the most part. I also have no cat, but if you run with one, it won't be as loud inside. A lot of people like the magnaflow mufflers as well.

Re: Best muffler with headers?

I have Hooker 2055's ceramic coated with 3" Flowmaster 1 in 1 out exhaust... flows better than the 1 in 2 out, but since my tail pipe is hidden... that's your choice...

I thought it was coming with a super 40 (or so I was told when I bought it), but it came with a race 30 series muffler. It's a low rumble, not as droning as the 40 series (it's a bit longer)... I'm very pleased with it... Noticeable, but not annoying... I like to hear great sounding cars, but I think I would quickly tire of all the racket... especially when I wanted to hear some tunes

Also, make sure the heat shield above the muffler is not rattling, that will make any muffler sound generic

Re: Best muffler with headers?

Thanks for the input guys. I eliminated my cat when I had the exhaust redone. Anyone ever try a glasspack?

Re: Best muffler with headers?

hooker headers and magnaflow muffler http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=wi40rYz2lPU#GU5U2spHI_4

I removed the flowmaster and tips off my car after about 6,000 kms, its for sale if someone wants it. You can hear what that sounds like here; http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=11Ps7D...eature=related

They sound very similar outside the car, but the interior sound is a fraction of what it used to be with the magnaflow.
