axle dumps...which way
no question you want them on a 45 degree angle pointing down...but
One friend says its been proven on dynos that pointing the axel dumps 45 degrees inwards makes more horsepower.
The other says you point them outwards...what kind of idiot would point them inwards?!
So which is it friends, which way should you point axel dumps.

Re: axel dumps...which way
there is no way it would make more power,, your friend is imagining a crossover effect and b.s'in you,, (ask for the dyno data)
i have mine straight down for the ground pound/ street sweeper effect
most people put em outwards for tire smoke, and how loud it is when you pass someone

Re: axel dumps...which way
that has nothing to do with anything, im going to hear the motor regardless of which way the dumps point.
however i do know the cruise i did in my camaro with open LT headers the drone they made when just cruising at 2500 was unbearable, im trying to stay away from that.

Re: axle dumps...which way
You can either have them down or 45 outwards. That is the way it has been done for many a years now between Bel Airs and galaxies with glass packs and other straight mufflers. Your the man Pennocks91ws6!! I would definitely want to hear your 383 all the time. But yess if you want to reduce your highway drone angle them out. My brother has 45 angle glasspacks with no drone, and my friend has a 1970 buick 455 with 45 angle tip round flowmasters and that thing shakes your chest. Just point them at 45 degrees and you will have good thump without resonance in the floor. Although I like resonance shaking the car. I'm a drag fan for sound.
