i understand the concept but whats the benifit?

 

If you have the welding skills, it can be a much cheaper alternative than a borla, but you still get the adjust ability and if you (Like me) live in a snobby neighborhood, you can quiet it back down before driving into the neighborhood at 3am...

 

how about electric cut outs?

 

I admit I have never had them, but I hear they rattle very badly....

 

Rattle? I don't know. I had one and enjoyed it. Sold it for a more linear exhaust system.

 

Well, this idea allows for a real DUEL kit, for under $100 if you can weld. To do an electric for duels, you will spend AT LEAST $300. and that leaves the exhaust under the car.

To run a summit brand manual cut out, well, this is essentially the same thing. This also makes it harder to access, unless you run some pipe to the side. That is also non adjustable. Its on or its off.

By using a system like I am talking about, you would save hundreds (If you can weld) and you would have adjustably on your system. You also dont have to worry about exhaust in the car.

 

Stock Y pipes are not routed like that. It's basically a single log with two legs dumping into it.

 

Something like this would flow pretty good, and be much easier/cheaper to build. Don't laugh at my uber paint skillz...

 

That is basically what I am talking about, but also run one off the drivers side to achieve true duels....

 

get long tubes, have a cutout come off each collector, and run the rest of the pipe into a Y behind the transmission?

 

To me, the OP's sketch kinda reminds me of that race car exhaust (was it used in the IROC??) that was made by walker back in the 80's, and it used a stock y-pipe and I-pipe, but tacked on another I-pipe under the left side, and had dual side exit with plates...
