headers and magnaflow catback done, whats next
i just got done putting a whole new exhaust, from headers all the way back on my 90 RS 305 tbi. im stoked on the setup, but now ive got the fever.
and want some more pick me up. what would be the next mod. i was thinking about one of those jet chips, but ive read on here that they are a waste of money. what about some kind of programmer or something. everything else on the car is stock except now for the exhaust.
i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Probably some SFC, cam and some heads to really wake that thing up.

i dont mean to sound like a rookie, but what is SFC?
and what would i do first the heads or the cam?
and if i do the heads and the cam, would my other stock parts be able to handle them or will i have to upgrade. and if so what parts will i be upgrading?
as for the jet chip, is it just crap and i should forget about it,
what about a programmer?"

Heads/cam is a great way to really improve the power, but your looking a pretty sizable investment in money, for parts, and labor if your not doing the work yourself. I would target the cam before the heads, but those two mods really go hand in hand well together. If I were to make an economical recommendation that would still net good results, I would go w/ SDPC Vortec heads/intake and a Comp xe262 or 268 cam. I'm not to familiar w/ TBI, so I don't know what your intake options are, although I beleive you can adapt a TBI unit onto a square flange intake like the Performer RPM. You're looking at a solid $1250ish bucks for the parts. And, by the time you've gone heads/cam, you'll need tuning software for sure, and then converter and gears to use your new, higher reving powerband.
If thats too much to get into, you might want to look at doing all the TBI mods. Get the timing set as agressively as the car will handle. A stall converter and 3.42 gears could really wake things up. Maybe just a mild cam like the one I run, should still play nice w/ a stock PCM.
I guess the question is, what are your goals, and how much do you have to spend?

i have the same car as you bro, but mine is manual. what kind of headers you put in? a cheap, yet effective mod is to buy an open breather. get rid of those restrictive flow air hoses

i put in the stainless hooker 2460s with the hooker y pipe, and that new magnaflow catback 3 in stainless system with 1 muffler, but that hooker y pipe eliminated the cat.

Re: headers and magnaflow catback done, whats next
has anybody had that jet stage 2 chip put in their car?
the guy from summit told me its not so much the horsepower it gives you but the improved handling and gas mileage. and the way the car shifts, he says it will take off quicker.
so i was wondering if anyone had any luck with it. because i heard you cant use a programmer in a 1990 camaro.
any info.
also cam and heads, do they both need to be done at the same time.
and for a 305 tbi, what kind of cam do you reccomend, and what kind of heads do you reccomend?

Re: headers and magnaflow catback done, whats next
i just got done with hedman l/t's into a sumit H and dynomax bullets. my next mod is SFC's. i will not do anything else to the motor until that is done.
when u do motor mods u can only go so far before u have to upgrade tranny components and other things, like suspension and brakes. i would atleast figure on adding a top quality shift kit. u don't want to have heads cam and intake done, only to breakdown b/c ur tranny or rear wouldn't hold up. everything should be done as a precurser of the power u want to make. u can run with H/C/I done, just don't run it on slicks too much.
your rear will hold up too, hard launches and hard hookups is what kills the tranny and rear's in these cars. but remeber SFC should be ur next mod. i know i'm forgetting something.
