Re: true dual sound clip
i love the sound and the attention it gets but also i hate the attention it gets lol. im going to add a H pipe and some tail pipes to help mellow the sound and if i cant make it much quieter im going to start shoping for different mufflers. im looking at spintech.

Re: true dual sound clip
Sounds just like a muscle car should! A little WD-40 on the door hinges might help too.

Re: true dual sound clip
here is a newer better sound clip. it smokes a lil in the video but i cant see the smoke with out the camera weird i had let it idle and warm up for about 5mins before i made the video i think it is just a lil fuel smoke.

my setup is 305 .030 over flat tops shaved 416 heads with screw in studs and guide plates 1.6 roller rockers summit 1103 cam th350 trans shift kit 2800 stall (too small) 3.42 gears (upgrading to 4.11). i plan to pull this motor out next spring and swap in a 350 im building with hopes of getting in the low 11's and im going to reuse my 416 heads and that summit cam in a basic rebuild 350 for my 86 since it will be awhile till im ready for the ls1 swap.

oh the exhaust is hedman longtubes 2 1/2 s extensions 2 1/2 straight pipes into flowmaster 10 series race mufflers dumped at axle soon to be run out to the bummper

Re: true dual sound clip
Ground clearance looks awful... You can see daylight above the mufflers Have you done any real driving with the car yet? Any particular reason you went with dual exhaust over a single 3"?

Re: true dual sound clip
If you go over the axle, the curves will tone it down some.

Or get some electric cut-outs & innstead of dumping them open, route them into quiet, generic mufflers. See a cop? Flip the switch. Wana be "stealthy" or just not so notice? Flip the switch.

That way, you have the benefits of your QUIET exhaust & your "quiet" exhaust.

Re: true dual sound clip
ive probably done a good 300miles on the exhaust since ite been on the carit will scrape on big dips at high speeds but just driving around its not bad i scraped on one speed bump and that was on the pipes that go under the tranny x member. it just nicked it too but my suspension is well worn. the car sat for 6 years in a guys back yard before i got it. the mufflers are about 2 1/2-3in thick at most. yes there is some gap above the mufflers since i mounted them to my seatbelt bolts and i just used generic exhaust hangers from federated auto parts. as of right now there is about 3-4in of ground clearance but like i said i have badly worn shocks/springs/struts. once i get axcess to a welder im going to ofder some more bends and add a x pipe and work on tucking it up a lil more. i have a set of dynomax turbo mufflers i was going to use but decided to use them on a true dual setup for my yukon xl i had thought about going with cutouts and or a single 3in but 1. cut outs would just be extra stuff i have to deal with. 2. single 3in would be much easier but i like the sound of true duals better after i heard if once i couldnt go back.

Re: true dual sound clip
hey screamin.

it sounds badd a$$ i have the same setup but with dynomax bullets and the summit H. i do have mine run over the axles into tips and believe me its not much quieter lol. u would think it would be as stated ubove but its not. i'm not saying not to run them over the axles, just the opposite.def doit.u'll love how it sounds. its still loud like when i had it dumped but its got a much, much deeper pitch to it. video sound clips do my exhaust no justice. and i do have a really good camera.

u might want to get an h-pipe instead of the x-pipe. the x is waaayyy to raspy imo. but if thats what u like then so be it.

here is mine.

Re: true dual sound clip
Sounds awesome. Yours too ws6blackhawk88, sounds better than stock. No other way to go than duals. Spintechs should sound pretty good on it. Other options, I suggest would be FM Super 40s or Bullets.

I plan on doing a dual setup over the axle, with cutouts and chambered exhaust mufflers, no h or x pipe though.

Re: true dual sound clip
if i do swap muffers i think im going to go with dynomax ultra-flows they seem to flow very well much better than a flowmaster 40 and spintech from what ive read. im going to go with a x pipe since i can gain the most power with it i want it to sound good but id rather have my better function over the smoother sound only other thing i thought about doing would be to put a set of bullets after the x pipe before my 10 series to help tone it down. im going to run the rectangle z28 tips once i get it run out the rear too. not a overly loud megaphone tip lol

Re: true dual sound clip
here are a few pics that shows my ground clearance pretty good. the car is stitting on the the ground i just left the jackstands under it since im not done yet lol. the clearance itsnt bad but with some working i think i can get it tucked up a lot closer to the body. oh and there are some bunched up floor mats under the car too and ds is disconected from rear.

Re: true dual sound clip
i do believe i cna get a couple more inches of clearance out of it for now its hung just up high enough so i dont scrape. it does ok now only real place ill scrape is just where it goes under the tranny. im going to trim my x member at that point to try and get it closer in the pic its hangin about a half inch from the x member.
